Amid the rising debate over the allegations that Anti-India slogans were raised at a debate on Kashmir organised by Amnesty in Bengaluru, Union Minister Sadananda Gowda has hinted for an investigation into the foreign funding of the NGO. This comes after a sedition case has been registered by the Bengaluru police against Amnesty India after a complaint was filed by the ABVP, a student body affiliated to the BJP's ideological mentor the Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS).

अंतरराष्ट्रीय मानवाधिकर संस्थान एमनेस्टी इंटरनेशनल यूनिवर्सिटी के खिलाफ बेंगलुरू में देशद्रोह का केस दर्ज किया गया है...दरअसल यूनिवर्सिटी के एक सेमिनार में कथित तौर पर भारत विरोधी नारे और कश्मीर की आज़ादी वाले नारे लगने का आरोप लगा है..पुलिस ने एबीवीपी के कार्यकर्ताओं की शिकायत पर एफ़आईआर दर्ज की. शिकायत में शनिवार को ''ब्रोकन फैमिलीज़'' के नाम से रखे गए सेमिनार में आयोजकों और भाग लेने वालों पर देशद्रोह के नारे लगाने के आरोप लगाए गए हैं. बेंगलूरू पुलिस के अतिरिक्त आयुक्त ने बताया है कि ''शिकायत के आधार पर धारा 124 और 154 के तहत मामला दर्ज किया गया है. हमने आयोजकों या शामिल लोगों में से किसी व्यक्ति का नाम नहीं लिखा है, लेकिन जांच पूरी करने के बाद ये कार्रवाई होगी..वहीं कार्यकारी निदेशक अकबर पटेल ने कहा, ''संवैधानिक मूल्यों की रक्षा करने वाले कार्यक्रमों को अब भारत विरोधी और आपराधिक क़रार दिया जा रहा है. पुलिस भी आयोजन स्थल पर आमंत्रित थी. हमारे ख़िलाफ़ शिकायत दर्ज करना और देशद्रोह का मामला दर्ज करना इस बात को दर्शाता है कि भारत में मौलिक अधिकारों और आज़ादी में विश्वास में कमी है।
''संवैधानिक मूल्यों की रक्षा करना सभी का कर्तव्य है...लेकिन एमनेस्टी से जिस तरह की तस्वीरें सामने आ रही है...वो वाकई में अगर सच्ची हैं, तो सवाल ये उठता है कि अभिव्यक्ति के नाम पर देशविरोधी नारेबाज़ी का यह सिलसिला कब तक चलता रहेगा।
