Any migrant who has stayed for 30 years anywhere in Goa and in any property including a rented property is called as Bhumiputra under the Bhumiputra Adhikarini Act.
If this migrant has constructed a structure on anyone's property, before 1st April 2019, he gets ownership of the property upto 250 sq meters.
This bhumiputra act overrides any contract such as rent agreement too.That means a migrant who has stayed anywhere in Goa for 30 years in the past,can today claim ownership of the property he was staying on rent even for few days or months, as on 1st April 2019, under this bhumiputra act.
