South African cricketing legend Faf du Plessis is surely having some good fun away from the cricketing arena. Du Plessis is currently on a holiday with his wife and child in Croatia, and the ace cricketer is having the time of his life.
The friendship between Faf du Plessis and AB de Villiers goes a long, long way back. De Villiers made his international debut way back in 2004 while du Plessis earned his first international cap seven years later in 2011. However, the two know each other since childhood. Long before they became the mainstay of Proteas batting order, both of them played in the same age group sides. Not only that, but the two also shared a room at the hostel, during their years at Affies from 1998 to 2002.
Du Plessis and De Villiers played for the school’s first cricket team when they were only 15. The duo were the best batsmen and their friendship grew stronger and stronger. But in the coming years, the two had contrasting paths. While De Villiers quickly made it to international cricket, Du Plessis had to toil hard in domestic cricket. In fact, at one stage Du Plessis had run out of patience and decided to quit South Africa in order to sign Kolpak deal.

Indian pace bowling legend Jhulan Goswami etched her name in the record books by becoming the highest wicket-taker in the history of the fifty over World Cup. The right-arm pace bowling colossus has now taken 40 wickets in her World Cup career and has overtaken Lyn Fullston, who took 39 wickets.
Goswami is a veteran of the game and is currently playing her fifth World Cup for the Indian side. Goswami boasts of excellent numbers in World Cup cricket. The 39-year-old pace bowler has featured in 31 matches for India in World Cup cricket and averages a miserly 20.77.
Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) have named Faf du Plessis as their captain for the upcoming Indian Premier League (IPL) season. Virat Kohli stepped down from the position at the end of the last season and it also coincided with him getting relieved off his international duties as the captain of the Indian team. Du Plessis is indeed an experienced campaigner having led South Africa from December 2016 (name all-format captain in August 2017) to February 2020.
Apart from captaincy experience at the highest level, the Proteas icon is also one of the most accomplished batters in the IPL and has played a key role in the Chennai Super Kings’ title triumphs in the 2018 and 2021 editions respectively.
Veteran spinner Ravi Ashwin has drawn a comparison between Indian skipper Rohit Sharma and his new IPL skipper Sanju Samson. The 35-year-old said that Samson is as talented as Rohit in terms of batting abilities. Ashwin believes that it’s like a younger brother-elder brother sort of a feeling between them.
The Rajasthan Royals (RR) skipper Sanju Samson is a classy batter since his U19 days. The 27-year-old has the ability to hit a long ball just like Rohit. Samson is also a comfortable puller of the ball against the pacer, another comparison that can be drawn between him and the Indian skipper. However, Samson has struggled for consistency at the highest level which is not

It has been two massive days for the ten IPL teams as they had to frame the squads without the RTM card options and all the permutations and combinations have been worked out in the meantime coming into the IPL 2022 mega auction. Finally, the franchises have finalized their squads, and here is how the Gujarat Titans’ complete squad looks like after the mega auction
Gujarat Titans came into the IPL 2022 mega auction having retained the likes of Hardik Pandya as their skipper and opted for a world-class spinner in Rashid Khan as well. Shubman Gill was the third retention for the side and it left the franchise with a purse amount of 52 Crores while coming into the mega event.
Gujarat Titans’ new recruits for IPL 2022
The Gujarat Titans picked up just one player from the marquee list and they managed to bag the services of Indian fast bowler Mohammad Shami at a price of INR 6.25 crore after intense bidding. Shami was with the Punjab Kings in the previous IPL season and he has developed into a strong T20 bowler in the last few years of IPL. The franchise acquired the services of England dashing opener Jason Roy who was a steal for his base price of INR 2 crore.
Gujarat Titans have worked out really well in picking up the overseas players, however, their Indian batting looks inexperienced and does not have a strong core with Hardik playing the finisher role. Rahul Tewatia has been brought for a huge price of INR 9 crore while another all-rounder Vijay Shankar has also been grabbed by the franchise. Karnataka lad Abhinav Sadarangani also got a look in for the first time in IPL for a hefty amount as well.
The franchise has invested in some serious pace attack with Lockie Ferguson for a whopping amount of INR 10 crore. Alzarri Joseph who did really well recently against India was picked up while young seamer Yash Dayal will act as a backup for Shami. Former Chennai Super Kings spinner Sai Kishore attracted intense bidding owing to

Cricket fans were occupied in the last couple of days as the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2022 mega auction was underway. The two-day bidding event took place in Bengaluru and several players went massive under the hammer. At the same time, some prominent names didn’t fetch a single bid and went unsold. Meanwhile, Delhi Capitals enjoyed a good time in the bidding event as they walked away with a strong squad.
DC were among the busiest franchises at the event as they went after several big names. After all, they operated with a star-studded squad in the last couple of seasons. It must be noted that DC retained the likes of Rishabh Pant, Axar Patel, Prithvi Shaw, and Anrich Nortje ahead of the auction and stepped into the bidding event with a purse of INR 47.5 crore.
They were in action straightaway as they went after seven of the 10 marquee players. However, they only managed to get David Warner on board for INR 6.25 crore. With Warner being one of the most successful batters in IPL history, his signing was indeed a steal for DC. Notably, DC emphasized more on multi-facetted players and they managed to get some prominent names on board.
Australia’s Mitchell Marsh, who has been in red hot form lately, went to DC for INR 6.5 crore. Meanwhile, the franchise’s most expensive buy at the event was Shardul Thakur. The Capitals had to splash a staggering INR 10.75 crore to acquire the all-rounder’s services. West Indies’ Rovman Powell will also serve DC this season.
Speaking of fast bowlers, DC bought the likes of Chetan Sakariya, Mustafizur Rahman, Kamlesh Nagarkoti and Khaleel Ahmed to assist Nortje. India’s Under-19 World Cup-winning captain Yash Dhull also went to DC camp. As far as the spin department is concerned, Kuldeep Yadav will join forces Axar Patel this season with Lalit Yadav and Praveen Dubey being the other options.
The side might not have that many superstars which they had in the last couple of seasons. However, t

Two big days of the IPL 2022 mega auction have finally come to an end with a lot of money being splashed in for recruits and there were surprises from all the ten teams battling it for Indian players especially. A very interesting auction had set it up well for the ten-team tournament this year and here is what Rajasthan Royals’ squad looks like after their auction.
Rajasthan Royals came into the auction having retained two capped players in skipper Sanju Samson and overseas dasher Jos Buttler and they also retained young sensation Yashasvi Jaiswal as their uncapped player. They had a purse amount of INR 62 Crores coming into the mega auction and have brought in some good players.
Rajasthan Royals had an excellent start to the auction as they bought two players from the marquee list in the form of Ravichandran Ashwin and Trent Boult. Ashwin was a steal at INR 5 crore with his immense experience while Boult is excellent with the new ball and at the back end of the innings. They also acquired the services of Shimron Hetmyer who can play the finisher role while the top order is already filled.

Sports video | 247 views
The 2022 IPL mega auction has come to an end, and it has been one that has kept the fans at the edge of their seats. All the franchises went ahead and strengthened their squads ahead of the 15th edition of the IPL.
The Chennai Super Kings (CSK) did what they have always focused on. They strengthened their ‘core’ team at the auction and bought most of the players who have been an integral part of their side in the last few years.
On day 1, CSK bought back the likes of Dwayne Bravo, Ambati Rayudu, Robin Uthappa, and Deepak Chahar. These are 4 cricketers who have been a part of the ‘core team’ of the four-time IPL champions. While Uthappa was pouched for INR 2 Crore, CSK spent INR 4.40 Crore and INR 6.75 Crore to procure the services of Bravo and Rayudu respectively.
There was a massive bidding war for Deepak Chahar, with teams like Delhi Capitals, Sunrisers Hyderabad, and Rajasthan Royals fighting it out with CSK. However, the ‘Men in Yellow’ went all out, splashed INR 14 Crore to get the services of Chahar. The 2 other players whom they bought on Day 1 were KM Asif and Tushar Deshpande for INR 20 Lakh each.
CSK’s buys on Day 2 of the 2022 IPL mega auction
On Day 2 of the IPL mega auction, CSK went for a plethora of all-rounders. The MS Dhoni-led outfit bought the likes of Shivam Dube (INR 4 Crore), Mitchell Santner (INR 1.9 Crore), as well as newbie Rajvardhan Hangargekar (INR 1.5 Crores). Also, Dwayne Pretorius was bought for INR 50 Lakh.
Sri Lankan Maheesh Theekshana was a steal at INR 70 Lakh, while Adam Milne was pouched for INR 1.9 Crore. Devon Conway was another addition to the list, and the ‘Men in Yellow’ spent INR 1 Crore to procure the services of the Kiwi. And finally, Chris Jordan was bought for a sum of INR 3.6 Crore.
The ‘Men in Yellow’ have retained their main squad once again, and have added some newbies as well. And surely, with MS Dhoni leading them in IPL 2022, the Yellow Brigade will be gun

The two-day event of the IPL mega auction saw a successful end on February 13 in Bangalore as teams walked away with their choice of players. It was interesting for two new franchises Lucknow Super Giants and Gujarat Titans to build the squad to mark a fresh start. Lucknow had roped in KL Rahul, Marcus Stoinis, and Ravi Bishnoi ahead of the mega auction.
While LSG roped in KL as their captaincy option for a whopping INR 17 crore, all-rounder Stoinis was fetched in at INR 9.25 crore. On the other hand, young leg spinner Ravi Bishnoi’s services were acquired by the new franchise at INR four crore. Day one of the auction saw the Lucknow team doing very well with team-making under the strategies of Gautam Gambhir.
They went on to rope Quinton de Kock as KL Rahul’s partner at the top. De Kock, who was released by Mumbai ahead of the mega auction, got picked by LSG at INR 6.75 crore. Talking in terms of their most expensive buys after KL, they bagged the services of ace pacer Avesh Khan for INR 10 crore and went on to rope in Jason Holder for INR 8.75 crore.
Earlier on day one, LSG also got in all-rounder Krunal Pandya, who was released by Mumbai Indians. And, one thing that attracted the attention of all the fans was the signing of Deepak Hooda. It will be interesting for fans to see Hooda and Pandya play under one roof after their personal issues last year.
It will be interesting to see when the Lucknow side will get to play some games at their home venue. IPL 2022 is reportedly expected to take place in Maharashtra due to COVID-19 concerns.

We are done and dusted with the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2022 mega auction and all the 10 teams have been finalized. It was indeed an action-packed event as many players went big under the hammer and bagged massive contracts. At the same time, several notable names went unsold despite two new teams – Lucknow Super Giants and Gujarat Titans – being in action.
Meanwhile, Punjab Kings were one of the franchises to watch out for as they stepped into the auction with the biggest purse amount of INR 72 crore. They had utilized only two of their four available retention cards to get Mayank Agarwal and Arshdeep Singh back on board. However, they wasted no time whatsoever in the bidding event and picked two of the 10 marquee players. Follow IPL Auction Day 2 Live Updates Here.
Punjab Kings picked two players from the marquee list
Former Delhi Capitals duo Kagiso Rabada (INR 9.25 crore) and Shikhar Dhawan (INR 8.25 crore) were the marquee inclusions in the Punjab side and many are even viewing the latter as the captain. They even went onto acquire the services of England wicketkeeper-batter Jonny Bairstow (INR 6.75 crore). The dasher can bat anywhere in the order and will also take the gloves.
Notably, Punjab Kings were keen to build a strong Indian contingent as they went hard after some local players. They picked leg-spinner Rahul Chahar for INR 5.25 crore, which is being considered a steal. The Mohali-based franchise also tried retaining their core – reacquiring the services of Prabhsimran Singh, Arshdeep Singh, Ishan Porel and Shahrukh Khan.
Among these names, Shahrukh, who has been in hot form lately, was the most expensive as PBKS had to spend INR 9 crore to get his services back. PBKS also invested big on all-rounders as they bought Liam Livingstone and Odean Smith for INR 11.5 crore and INR 6 crore respectively. Overall, the squad looks balanced with prominent players being available in all three departments. Hence, it will b
