Indian pace bowling legend Jhulan Goswami etched her name in the record books by becoming the highest wicket-taker in the history of the fifty over World Cup. The right-arm pace bowling colossus has now taken 40 wickets in her World Cup career and has overtaken Lyn Fullston, who took 39 wickets.

Goswami is a veteran of the game and is currently playing her fifth World Cup for the Indian side. Goswami boasts of excellent numbers in World Cup cricket. The 39-year-old pace bowler has featured in 31 matches for India in World Cup cricket and averages a miserly 20.77.

Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) have named Faf du Plessis as their captain for the upcoming Indian Premier League (IPL) season. Virat Kohli stepped down from the position at the end of the last season and it also coincided with him getting relieved off his international duties as the captain of the Indian team. Du Plessis is indeed an experienced campaigner having led South Africa from December 2016 (name all-format captain in August 2017) to February 2020.

Apart from captaincy experience at the highest level, the Proteas icon is also one of the most accomplished batters in the IPL and has played a key role in the Chennai Super Kings’ title triumphs in the 2018 and 2021 editions respectively.

Veteran spinner Ravi Ashwin has drawn a comparison between Indian skipper Rohit Sharma and his new IPL skipper Sanju Samson. The 35-year-old said that Samson is as talented as Rohit in terms of batting abilities. Ashwin believes that it’s like a younger brother-elder brother sort of a feeling between them.

The Rajasthan Royals (RR) skipper Sanju Samson is a classy batter since his U19 days. The 27-year-old has the ability to hit a long ball just like Rohit. Samson is also a comfortable puller of the ball against the pacer, another comparison that can be drawn between him and the Indian skipper. However, Samson has struggled for consistency at the highest level which is not.
