उरी हमले और पाकिस्तान की ओर से किए जाने वाले कई हमलों के बाद देश के कई हिस्सों से लोगों की अलग-अलग प्रतिक्रियाएं आ रही हैं। अभिनेता ओम पुरी ने भारतीय सेना के जवानों की शहादत पर एक विवादास्पद बयान दिया। ओमपुरी ने एक टीवी चैनल में डिबेट के दौरान कहा कि किसने कहा है जवान से कि सेना में भर्ती हो और बंदूक उठाए। उन्होंने कहा कि क्या देश में 15-20 लोग ऐसे हैं, जिन्हें बम बांधकर पाकिस्तान भेजा जा सके? ओमपुरी यहीं नहीं रुके, उन्होंने कहा कि भारत और पाकिस्तान को इज़रायल और फिलिस्तीन न बनाएं। देश में करोड़ों मुस्लिम रहते हैं, उन्हें न भड़काएं। उन्होंने कहा कि भारत का विभाजन सिर्फ देश का विभाजन नहीं था, वो परिवारों का भी विभाजन था, देश के तमाम लोगों के परिवार वहां रहते हैं, उनके परिवार यहां रहते हैं फिर कैसे जंग करेंगे। पाकिस्तान कलाकारों के बॉलीवुड में काम करने पर पूछे गए सवाल पर ओम पुरी ने कहा कि सवाल उठाने वाले सरकार पर सवाल क्यों नहीं उठाते, उनसे क्यों नहीं कहते कि कैसे वो इन कलाकारों को वीज़ा देती है। कलाकार की कोई औकात नहीं होती और उससे सवाल पूछे जा रहे हैं। ओमपुरी के इस बयान की बॉलीवुड सहित हर तरफ निंदा हो रही है। बॉलीवुड अभिनेता अनुपम खेर ने ट्वीट कर कहा कि ओमपुरी के बयान से दुख हुआ। उन्होंने लिखा कि मैं आपकी इज्ज़त करता हूं। लेकिन कल टीवी पर देश के सैनिक के बारे में आपकी बात सुनकर दुख हुआ।

Actor Om Puri insults the martyrdom of soldiers. Veteran actor Om Puri has come out in support of Pakistani actors, saying art and politics should be kept separate and banning the artistes will not change the situation. Puri said Pakistani artistes are not working illegally here and if they are sent back, Indian producers, who have signed them for their films, will suffer heavy losses.
'When the government is taking an action, we all should stay quiet. It hardly matters if we send back the artists from Pakistan, who are working here, or let them stay. I have been to Pakistan six times and have met people from all strata,' the 65-year-old actor said here.
'I have always received love and warmth. If the Pakistani actors leave the projects they are doing here in middle, then people in India (filmmakers) will also face financial loss. Hence, this is insignificant. The actors have not come here through any illegal way. They have valid visa. But, if the government will ask them to leave, then it is different,' he said. Later while on a live debate on IBN7, he insensitively spoke about Indian martyrs saying, “We haven’t forced them to join the army.'
