The ongoing second Test match between India and Sri Lanka has seen Virat Kohli getting massive support from the Bengaluru crowd. After all, the right-handed batter is playing at his adopted home amid his association with Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) since the inception of IPL in 2008. While numerous fans showered love on Kohli from stands at the M Chinnaswamy Stadium, three of them managed to invade the pitch and went near the players.

The incident occurred towards the end of play on Day 2. Sri Lanka’s Kusal Mendis was taking treatment after being hit by a Mohammed Shami delivery in the sixth over. Sensing the opportunity, three fans managed to fox the security officials and ran towards the players. One of them even managed to get close to Kohli, who was standing in slip area.

Former all-rounder Irfan Pathan has compared India skipper Rohit Sharma with the legendary captain MS Dhoni. Giving further clarification on the same, Pathan has said that while Dhoni is called Captain Cool, Rohit is as cool as a ‘cucumber’. This is Rohit’s first assignment as the Indian Test captain after being appointed Virat Kohli‘s successor who had shockingly relinquished the red-ball captaincy after a 1-2 series defeat to South Africa in January. Meanwhile, the hosts defeated the Lankans by an innings and 222 runs in the series opener.

The 2023 edition of the ODI World Cup will be hosted by India and Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) has started its preparation. As per the latest developments, the cricket body asked the office-bearers to form the Local Organising Committee (LOC) for the next year’s tournament, which will take place in October-November. The formation of the LOC is expected to be completed by the end of this month.
