The IPL 2021 which is now due in less than three weeks is anticipated to be a mega event in terms of the highest quality of T20 cricket being played. The tournament is already considered as a key event for the international players to get very well prepared for the 2021 World T20 and that’s the reason why almost every cricketing board this time is very adamant in allowing their players to play the full season. Also, almost every IPL team after the February Auction is looking very well stacked and it will be interesting to find out how each team goes with their business.
Although, on paper before the mega-event almost every team does look to be a potential candidate for the top four, in reality, as we all know just like every season there are few teams that genuinely start as top favourites. Because of their past robust record, one can easily bank on them even for the top two spots or eventually seeing them lifting the glory.
With the 14th edition now also being an arrangement where there’s hardly any home advantage left, the tournament also then apparently becomes much more eventful where the franchises will then have to fetch out some strenuous wins. Hence, let’s take a look at.
Here are the 3 teams that are favourites to win the title in IPL 2021. #IPL #IPL2021 #Cricket

The bowling attack of SRH is one of the strongest in the tournament. Proteas pace sensation Marco Jansen might miss out on the season opener but, the other members of the pace trio can turn out to be very lethal for the opposition. Bhuvneshwar Kumar has been marred with injuries in the last couple of seasons but, he can still be a threat should he be able to generate swing upfront. Natarajan is famously known as the ‘Yorker King’ has the ability to bowl yorkers at will. He can also be unplayable at times during the death overs.
The uncapped Umran Malik is yet to make a mark in the IPL but, during his debut season in 2021, he did announce his arrival to the big stage in style by clocking over 150 kmph on a few occasions.

The 2022 season of the Indian Premier League (IPL) will commence on 26th March 2022. The Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) will be led by a new captain, Faf du Plessis. Former Indian cricketer Wasim Jaffer feels that batting legend Virat Kohli should bat at No. 3 for the RCB outfit in the upcoming season.
Jaffer said that Kohli can pace the game well if he bats at No.3 as he is a batter who likes to take his time. He opined that Kohli tries to force himself when he opens the batting. The former Indian cricketer added that No.3 is the best position for Kohli to bat.
“I prefer Virat Kohli batting at No. 3. I feel he can pace the game very well from there whether he comes to bat in the powerplay or after that. He’s somebody who takes some time initially and then his strike rate progressively goes up. In the powerplay, it seems as he forces himself a bit to hit by using the crease which I don’t think is his game. He’s obviously been successful as well but I think he plays better at No. 3,” said Jaffer in a chat with ESPNcricinfo.
Faf du Plessis and Virat Kohli are similar kind of players: Wasim Jaffer
Jaffer further said that Virat Kohli and Faf du Plessis play with a similar style. He added that as power-hitter Glenn Maxwell will walk in at No.4, Anuj Rawat should open the batting as he has already opened in the Syed Mushtaq Ali tournament.
“I also feel that Faf and Virat are similar kinds of players so Virat at No. 3 and Maxy (Glenn Maxwell) at No. 4 seems a better combination. Anuj Rawat, he’s a left-hander as well, bats in the powerplay for Delhi, opens in the [Syed] Mushtaq Ali [Trophy] – we could see him opening the batting and I would like to see Virat at No. 3,” concluded Jaffer.

Hardik Pandya and his fitness were the talking points during the T20 World Cup in the UAE last year. Moreover, the all-rounder not bowling much, also raised a lot of eyebrows as chief selector Chetan Sharma had said that he will bowl his quota of four overs during the squad announcement press conference. Since the mega event, Hardik has not played any kind of competitive cricket and has worked on his fitness.
Even as he was declared fit at the NCA to take part in the IPL 2022, all the eyes were on the Gujarat Titans skipper when he took the field against the Lucknow Super Giants on Monday (March 28). It is very important for him to bowl and prove his fitness, and former India cricketer Wasim Jaffer also felt the same.
Jaffer, while speaking on Sky247.net presents ‘Not Just Cricket Show’ on CricTracker, pointed out that the selectors will have a keen eye on Hardik Pandya’s fitness and performances in the IPL with the T20 World Cup scheduled to be played later this year in Australia.
“Pandya has been away from international cricket for quite some time now. T20 World Cup is scheduled for later this year. If he wants to make it to the WC, his performance with the ball needs to be the best,” Jaffer said. Interestingly, Hardik Pandya bowled a full tilt in GT’s opening game, conceding 37 runs in his four-over spell without picking up a wicket.
Krunal also needs to buckle up, says Jaffer
Wasim Jaffer went on to say that Hardik’s brother Krunal Pandya should also pull up his socks in terms of performances this season after not doing much in IPL 2021. “Another Pandya, Krunal Pandya, needs to buckle up too, else this will be his last season. Both the brothers need to perform well in this tournament if they want to survive,” Jaffer added.
It remains to be seen now if the Pandya brothers live up to their billing for their respective teams as the season progresses.

CricTracker expert Wasim Jaffer gives suggestions to the teams to nullify the dew factor while defending a total in the Indian T20 League.
The Chennai Super Kings went down to the Lucknow Super Giants in a high-scoring encounter by six wickets at the Brabourne Stadium in Mumbai on March 31
This was CSK’s second straight loss of the ongoing season. They had suffered a six-wicket defeat against the Kolkata Knight Riders in the curtain-raiser.
It is to be noted that this was the defending champions’ second successive loss while defending a total as well. After Chennai failed to get the job done with the ball in hand during the second innings yet again, head coach Stephen Fleming has come forward and said that the dew factor hampered the CSK bowlers from doing anything exceptional. At the same time, the former New Zealand skipper also compared the dew in Mumbai to Niagara.
'If you’d looked earlier on, spinning options were taken out of play. Because it was like Niagara Falls in terms of the wetness and they [LSG] played well. So it was very hard to, one, grip the ball for a spinner and, two, to be effective,” said Fleming while speaking to the host broadcasters after the contest.
“So early on, we were one over short but they played well. We always knew we had to pick up an over somewhere – we were hoping to be able to create enough of a run-rate towards the end that we could squeeze someone in,” he added.
“We thought it ( referring to CSK’s 210 ) was about par, and that’s the nature of the conditions at the moment – they very much favor the team batting second,” said the ex-opener. Dew has been playing a crucial role in the ongoing IPL season as only once has the team batting first has won out of seven matches so far.
After the first two losses, the four-time champions would be hoping to stage a comeback and also register their first two points of this season. The title-holders will next be seen i
