Australian skipper Pat Cummins has confirmed Australia’s playing XI for the 2nd Ashes Test match which will be played at the Adelaide Oval. With right-arm pacer Josh Hazlewood ruled out of the 2nd Test match with an injury, Jhye Richardson has been announced as his replacement.

Also, there was some uncertainty surrounding opener David Warner’s availability as he was suffering from a rib injury, but Cummins has confirmed that the left-hander will take the field for the 2nd rubber.

Another concern for Australia is that Hazlewood might still not be a confirmed starter for the Boxing Day Test match that will be played at Melbourne. Meanwhile, Michael Neser continues to wait in the sidelines. The 2nd Test will be a Day-Night affair and will be played with a Pink ball.

The 1st Test match was a totally one-sided contest, with the kangaroos absolutely decimating their arch-rivals inside 4 days. The England batters looked totally out of sorts, and apart from Joe Root and Dawid Malan, no other England batter could even score a half-century in the entire Test match.

And, Australia started their campaign in The Ashes with a crushing 9-wicket victory at The Gabba in Brisbane. It was a dominating performance by the hosts and a wonderful start for the kangaroos under their new leader Pat Cummins. Left-handed batter Travis Head won the Player of the Match award for his rollicking 152 in the 1st innings of the 1st Ashes Test match.

Meanwhile, Chris Silverwood, the England coach confirmed that fast bowling veterans James Anderson and Stuart Broad are fit and will be available for selection for the 2nd Test.

  • Watch Sunil Gavaskar Has His Say On India
Sunil Gavaskar Has His Say On India's Next Test Captain After Virat Kohli And More Cricket News

Former Indian skipper Sourav Ganguly said that Team India have taken giant strides over the years under the leadership of Virat Kohli. Indian cricket was in deep turmoil when Kohli took over from MS Dhoni in the purest format back in December 2014. The Jharkhand-born Dhoni retired from Test cricket following which the now 33-year-old took charge of the Test team.

Seven years since then, Kohli is India’s most successful Test captain after he toppled Dhoni’s tally during the 2019 tour of the West Indies. On Saturday, January 15, Kohli stepped down as India’s skipper in Test cricket. Ganguly, who’s the president of the BCCI, said that Kohli’s decision was personal and stated that the Indian board respected his decision with an open heart.

Gavaskar who captained India in the 1970s, wants India selectors to make Pant the next captain and revealed the reason for it with the best example of Rohit for the Mumbai Indians. Ever since Rohit took over the captaincy for Mumbai in 2013, he has won five IPL titles and is the most successful captain in the history of the tournament so far. Gavaskar also opined that Pant will be able to play a lot more big innings if he is given the responsibility.

“If you ask me, I am still staying, I would look at Rishabh Pant as next India captain. For one reason only, just like Rohit Sharma was given the captaincy of Mumbai Indians when Ricky Ponting stepped down, look at the change in his batting after that. Suddenly the responsibility of being captain made him convert those beautiful cameos of 30s, 40s and 50s into hundreds, 150s and 200s.

Virat Kohli stunned the cricketing fraternity announcing his decision to step down as India’s Test captain on Saturday (January 15). Soon after he made his decision public, current and former cricketers came up with the messages congratulating Kohli for taking the Test team to newer heights during his seven-year stint. However, his stint as captain of India across all form

Sunil Gavaskar Compares Virat Kohli's Body Language With A Pakistan Cricketer And More Cricket News

Cricket fans can’t keep calm as Virat Kohli is set to add another feather to his already-illustrious hat. The first Test match between India and Sri Lanka in Mohali will mark Kohli’s 100th appearance in the format and many eyes will be on him. On the eve of the clash, former Indian skipper Sunil Gavaskar lavished massive praises on Kohli while speaking about his about the latter’s ability to shine under pressure.

Gavaskar, who’s among the 11 Indians to have played 100 Tests before Kohli, asserted playing these games in the longest format is itself an achievement. He also went to draw comparisons between the 33-year-old and former Pakistan captain Javed Miandad. Gavaskar highlighted the two belong to a rare breed of batters who like to sledge bowlers and provoke them.

Hanuma Vihari is one of the unsung cricketing heroes of India who has got the job done for the team whenever it was demanded from him but more importantly has also put the teamabove himself. Lately, the Indian team’s former fielding coach R Sridhar has come forward and said that the Test specialist had sacrificed his place for the team’s cause during a home series in 2019.

Vihari has been included in the Indian squad for the ongoing two-match Test series against Sri Lanka. The 28-year-old might have made his red-ball debut during the away series against England in September 2018 but, in the 13 Tests that he has played so far, he had only featured in one home series and that was against South Africa in October 2019. However, he is currently batting at three in the ongoing Mohali Test.

India’s ace middle-order batter Suryakumar Yadav has found a reward for his sensational batting of late by getting included in the Board of Control for Cricket in India’s (BCCI) central contracts for the first time.

The 31-year-old batter, who has represented India in seven one-day internationals and 14 T20 internationals so far, secured a ‘Grade C’ contract which carries an annu

Sunil Gavaskar defends Dinesh Karthik's case for T20 World Cup And More Cricket News

Former India batter Gautam Gambhir said that there was no point in giving Dinesh Karthik a place in the India squad that will travel to Australia for the upcoming T20 World Cup if he is not picked in the playing XI. Following the former opener’s comments, Indian great Sunil Gavaskar said that Karthik is the “player India wants”.

Gavaskar wondered how one could see that he is not going to play, adding that players have to be picked based on their form and not reputation. He explained that as Karthik bats at No. 6 or 7, he cannot be expected to score a fifty regularly.

“I know people are talking about how can you include him in the team when he’s not going to play. How do you see he’s not going to be able to play? He could be the guy you want. You look at the form and not reputations, names and then you pick the guy,” said Gavaskar on Star Sports.

James Anderson expresses his thoughts about Virat Kohli, he is not sure about it, but he would love to bowl at Virat Kohli, again. He added that he might stay until the next tour to face the star Indian batter again. Anderson and Kohli have had some fierce battles in the past.

India crushed England in the third ODI of the three-match series to win it 2-1 days after clinching the T20I series by the same margin but Virat Kohli’s rough patch continued even in this series. Virat Kohli has often struggled with deliveries in the off-stump line, but Sunil Gavaskar believes his suggestions could help the star batter get out of the lean patch.

England Opener Jonny Bairstow Slams Sunil Gavaskar For His Comments And More Cricket News

England star Jonny Bairstow has hit back at Sunil Gavaskar for the latter’s comment about him being ‘uninterested’ while batting in Test cricket. Bairstow’s comments came after he scored a stunning match-winning ton against India in the second ODI on Friday.

The second wave of COVID-19 has possibly arrived in India. March 26 witnessed a whopping 60,000 new cases even as Maharashtra is at the centre stage of it all. Like it was last year, even the athletes are getting infected and this time around, it is the heartthrob of the nation, Sachin Tendulkar.

Cricket South Africa (CSA) has allowed its players to leave the home ODI series against Pakistan midway and take part in the 2021 edition of the Indian Premier League (IPL). If reports are to be believed, the Proteas cricketers will leave for the IPL on April 4.

Sunil Gavaskar Slams India's Approach In The third Test And More News

Legendary batter Sunil Gavaskar wasn’t overly happy with the tactics Team India employed during the fourth day of their third Test against South Africa at the Newlands in Cape Town. The game was nicely poised ahead of the penultimate day as the Proteas needed 111 runs to win with eight wickets in hand.

But the hosts made light work of the run-chase as they tracked down the target in 63.3 overs. Keegan Petersen became the Player of the Match for scoring vital half-centuries in both innings. He also got the Player of the Series award.

“It was a mystery to me why Shardul Thakur and Jasprit Bumrah did not bowl after lunch. It was almost as if India had decided that they are not going to win this,” Gavaskar was quoted as saying.

“The field placements there were for Ashwin was not right… There were singles available easily. Five fielders were in the deep. Let the batters take a chance. That is your only opportunity to get them out,” he stated.

Gavaskar, in the meantime, had words of praises for the Proteas for showing a great amount of character on a difficult surface to bat on at the Newlands.

“The pitches weren’t the best for batting but the application shown by the South Africans in Johannesburg, the application shown by them in this Test as well has been praiseworthy. That showed the character of the team,” Gavaskar added.

England fast bowler Stuart Broad was a tad agitated during the second day’s play of the fifth and final Ashes Test against Australia at the Bellerive Oval in Hobart. During the 63rd over of the first innings, the 35-year-old pulled out of his run-up after reaching the bowling crease. The camera that was behind the left-handed batter, Mitchell Starc, distracted him to a large extent.

The camera generally hovers around the boundary and it acted as a big distraction for Broad, England’s second-highest wicket-taker in Test cricket after James Anderson. “Stop moving the robot,” yelled Broad a

Indian Coach Ravi Shastri Reacts On The Alleged Rift Between Rohit Sharma And Virat Kohli

Former Indian player and current team head coach Ravi Shastri states that he has never seen any rift between skipper Virat Kohli and Rohit Sharma and that their coordination has always been good.

Notably, there have been a plethora of reports in the past that have suggested an alleged rift between the Indian players, with different reasons speculated behind. Although, clearing the air from his side, Shastri laid it clear that neither there has been any such rift nor would the team not get affected if there existed any such problem between the two.

Skipper Kohli too has been questioned over the same in the past when he brushed aside such claims and termed them “ridiculous to read” while highlighting how important is the dressing room atmosphere for a team to succeed.

“I too have heard a lot. Dressing room atmosphere is important to succeed. If this (rumour of the rift) was true, we would not have performed well. It’s ridiculous to read such news. We are overlooking facts. We are turning blind eyes towards good things. I have been to public events where we have been praised and here we are feeding off lies, turning a blind eye to all good things that happened and creating fantasies and scenarios in our head,” Kohli had said after the 2019 ODI World Cup.

“You’ll come to the changing room and see how we are. We can’t show you videos. It baffles you as a team member and the captain,” he further stated.
