If we take PSL to auction model, then we’ll see who goes to play IPL over PSL: Ramiz Raja

Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) Chairman Ramiz Raja has hinted that the Pakistan Super League (PSL) might ditch the draft system from the next season. He is looking to replace the draft system with the auction model through which the Indian Premier League (IPL) has been immensely successful since its inception in 2008.

Ramiz Raja is of the opinion that the PSL model has to switch to auction from next year, however, he wants to discuss it first with the franchises. According to him, the timing is perfect and the time has come for the PCB to create financially independent properties.

All-rounder Hardik Pandya has reported to the NCA in Bengaluru and is expected to undergo a fitness test. Hardik was drafted in by the Gujarat Titans ahead of IPL 2022 mega auction for INR 15 Crore and was made the skipper of the franchise as well. The Indian management has been monitoring him in his fitness developments for the past six months.

The Baroda lad was last seen in action during the T20 World Cup 2021 but managed to find a Grade C central contract with the Indian team. The 28-year-old is clearly still in the scheme of things for the upcoming T20 World Cup this year and it is also understood that he had bowled in the Gujarat Titans five-day camp as well for two sessions.

Rishabh Pant was at his destructive best during the recently-concluded Test series against Sri Lanka, which India won 2-0. The southpaw made his bat talk and slammed 185 runs in three innings. Moreover, his strike rate was over 120 as most of the Lankan bowlers looked utterly clueless against him. Pant was exceptional behind the stumps as well and his heroics earned him the Player-of-the-Series award.

It must be noted that Pant’s wicketkeeping skills has been a subject of debate in the cricket circle in recent years. While his destructive batting has taken India to some memorable wins, his mistakes behind the stumps has also cost the team at times. Nonetheless, the 24-y

Quetta Gladiators’ Anwar Ali Tests Positive For COVID-19 Ahead Of PSL 2021 Resumption & More News

The Pakistan Super League (PSL) is set to resume on June 5 with 20 matches set to be played in Abu Dhabi. The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) has laid out strict COVID protocols after what transpired earlier this year with positive cases inside the bubble. While the players were told to reach the hotel on Monday with a negative report, they were also due to be tested again before leaving for Abu Dhabi on May 26.

However, the preparations have been jolted yet again with Quetta Gladiators’ all-rounder Anwar Ali testing positive for COVID-19. The tournament seems to be over for him it seems with this positive result as the PCB is not leaving any stone unturned this time around.

Former World Cup-winning captain Michael Clarke has faced a lot of fast bowlers in his playing days, the likes of Shoaib Akhtar, Dale Steyn, Morne Morkel, and sometimes Shaun Tait at the nets. These bowlers were a nightmare for any team and would generate some serious pace. Clarke though marked one bowler who he feels was the fastest among all.

Wriddhiman Saha and Prasidh Krishna have joined Team India bio-bubble after recovering from Covid-19. Both had caught the disease as the deadly virus breached the IPL bubble. Alongside them, Indian team members based in Mumbai have also checked in at Grand Hayatt in Mumbai.

Multan Sultan's Mohammed Rizwan To Captain PSL 2021 Team Of The Tournament & More Cricket News

The 2021 edition of the Pakistan Super League (PSL) is done and dusted, and Multan Sultans have emerged winners. The Mohammad Rizwan-led side defeated Peshawar Zalmi by 47 runs in the final clash to get their hands on the prestigious title. It was indeed a hard-fought win for the Sultans as all the six participating teams played some quality cricket throughout the tournament. As a result, we saw several jaw-dropping knocks and many astonishing bowling spells.

Honouring the star performers of the season, Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB), on June 25, announced the team of PSL 2021. The elite XI features three players each from Islamabad United and Multan Sultans, two players each from Lahore Qalandars and Peshawar Zalmi, and one Karachi Kings player. Hence, no player from the Quetta Gladiators, who finished the league stage at last position, could make it to this list.

Starting from the openers, Peshawar Zalmi’s Hazratullah Zazai was selected alongside Karachi Kings’ Babar Azam, who also was the tournament’s highest run-getter. Both these batsmen played several impressive innings this season and took their respective sides to playoffs. Islamabad United’s Colin Munro and Multan Sultans’ Sohaib Maqsood are next in the order.

PCB Reportedly Received 27 Lakh Biryani Bill, Pietersen On Warner's Nightmares And More Cricket News

New Zealand’s much-awaited tour of Pakistan was called off in an unfortunate manner. Although the Kiwi team landed in Pakistan for three ODIs and five T20Is, they were called back without playing a single match. The New Zealand Cricket Board (NZC) cited security concerns behind the sudden cancellation of the tour. Notably, this would have been the New Zealand cricket team’s first national assignment on Pakistan soil since 2004.

With the significance of this series being so high, Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) had made several preparations. However, they faced disappointment as the tour was called off. As per the latest development, PCB are set to endure huge financial losses due to the cancellation of the series. In fact, the cricket board is staring at a hefty amount just to pay the food bills of security officials hired for the Kiwi team.

Recently, New Zealand Cricket abandoned their white-ball series against Pakistan citing security threats. The PCB, however, denied any such threats and assured the visiting team about the same. Soon after this, ECB also announced that it has withdrawn the men’s and women’s team from tours of Pakistan in October. Prime Minister Imran Khan thus met Pakistan’s T20 team ahead of the upcoming World Cup to boost the morale of the players.

The players arrived at the PM’s office wherein the PCB Chairman was also present. The meeting was held in the backdrop of the recent events wherein New Zealand and England pulled out from the series against the nation. As per sources, PM Imran Khan advised the players to play fearless cricket in the upcoming T20 World Cup. He also pinned his hopes on the nation hosting international cricket soon.

Kevin Pietersen also opined that David Warner would have thought on the day before the match that he would find it difficult to find a way out against the likes of Anrich Nortje and Kagiso Rabada. Pietersen concluded by stating that Nortje was successful in knocking over Davi

Shoaib Akhtar Hits Out At PCB After Pakistan's Test Series Loss To Australia And More Cricket News

Former speedster Shoaib Akhtar has come out hard at Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) following the team’s 0-1 defeat in the home Test series against Australia. While the first two games ended in a draw, the Aussies walked away with a 115-run triumph in the third and final Test to lift the trophy. Notably, the cricket fraternity has been critical of Pakistan’s ‘defensive’ approach throughout the series.

With the first two Tests ending in a draw, the pitch conditions in Rawalpindi and Karachi drew massive criticism, although the hosts made a terrific comeback to salvage a draw in the second Test. Babar Azam’s men looked on the right track to earn a draw in the Lahore Test as well. However, Nathan Lyon’s five-for meant the Aussies record a historic series win on Pakistan soil.

Akhtar wasn’t amused with the proceedings as he lashed out at PCB for their lackluster approach in the series. At the same time, he also lavished praises on the Pat Cummins-led side for playing brave cricket.

Veteran pacer Umesh Yadav is hopeful of making a comeback in India’s white-ball teams with an impressive show in Indian Premier League (IPL) 2022. The 34-year-old will serve Kolkata Knight Riders this season, who bought him for his base price of INR 2 crore in the mega auction. Notably, Umesh last played a white-ball game for India back in 2019. He has been out of contention since then with India producing one quality fast bowler after another.

Moreover, the speedster had a hard time in the last few IPL seasons as well. Nonetheless, the right-arm pacer has been working on his game and is determined to play white-ball cricket for India again. He even believes that a good show in IPL 2022 can earn him a spot in India’s squad for the T20 World Cup, which will take place later this year in Australia.
