Twenty20, the brash form of cricket, is generally referred to as a batsman’s format. But, this fact doesn’t hold true for some of the extraordinary bowlers around the world. With the conditions favoring them on most occasions, the batsmen may often act as bullies, tearing them apart mercilessly. But the bowlers too have adapted and have found ways to get better of their opponents. Some bowlers, with their brilliant performances, have shown that the T20 format is not all about bowlers getting thrashed.
Similarly, we try to list out the ten bowlers who have topped the bowling charts with the most wickets in Twenty20.
Bangladesh all-rounder Shakib Al Hasan has been one of the leading wicket-taker for his side in the 20-over format. He previously had an impressive average of 6.81 in T20Is and has one fifer in the format. He registered his best bowling figures of 5/20 against the West Indies in 2018.
Afghanistan spinner Rashid Khan is regarded as the best spinner in T20 cricket currently. He picked up 95 wickets in only 51 T20Is played with an excellent average of 12.63 and a strike rate of 12.1. Rashid registered his best bowling figures of 5/3 against Ireland in 2017.
Pakistan All-rounder Shahid Afridi is also among the highest wicket-taker for his country in T20Is. He has had 98 scalps to his name in 99 games at an average of 24.44 and a strike rate of 22.1. He has picked up three 4-wicket hauls in the format with best innings figures of 4/11.
