Srinivasa Ramanujan It is one of the most romantic stories in the history of mathematics: in 1913, the English mathematician G. H. Hardy received a strange letter from an unknown clerk in Madras, India. The ten-page letter contained about 120 statements of theorems on infinite series, improper integrals, continued fractions, and number theory (Here is a .dvi file with a sample of these results). Every prominent mathematician gets letters from cranks, and at first glance Hardy no doubt put this letter in that class. But something about the formulas made him take a second look, and show it to his collaborator J. E. Littlewood. After a few hours, they concluded that the results 'must be true because, if they were not true, no one would have had the imagination to invent them'

    Srinivasa Ramanujan FRS ( pronunciation (help·info)) (22 December 1887 -- 26 April 1920) was an Indian mathematician and autodidact who, with almost no formal training in pure mathematics, made extraordinary contributions to mathematical analysis, number theory, infinite series, and continued fractions. Living in India with no access to the larger mathematical community, which was centered in Europe at the time, Ramanujan developed his own mathematical research in isolation. As a result, he sometimes rediscovered known theorems in addition to producing new work. Ramanujan was said to be a natural genius by the English mathematician G.H. Hardy, in the same league as mathematicians like Euler and Gauss.
    During his short lifetime, Ramanujan independently compiled nearly 3900 results (mostly identities and equations). Nearly all his claims have now been proven correct, although a small number of these results were actually false and some were already known. He stated results that were both original and highly unconventional, such as the Ramanujan prime and the Ramanujan theta function, and these have inspired a vast amount of further research. The marriage song sung by legend SP Balasubramanium is superb. It raised expectations on the rest of the album. Did it live up to the anticipation? We have to say Srinivasa Kalyanam operates on a familiar terrain but fails to deliver as a whole. The Mickey J Mayer sound is on predictable lines and hence comparison comes with his other albums in the same zone like Seethamma Vakitlo Sirimalle Chettu. Unfortunately, it is not on the same level. Even for that matter Shatamanam Bhavati in the same combo was a better album overall. Apart from the title song, Ithadena Ithadena sung by Shriya Ghosal is fine. Vinnavamma Thoorupu Chukka follows it despite being a situational number. The rest also give a largely situational appeal, and don’t have a standalone listening impact. Now, it all depends on how well the songs are placed and shot. Srinivasa Kalyanam hits cinemas all over on August 9. Nithiin and Rashi Khanna star in the movie directed by Satish Vegesna.
