केंद्रीय पर्यटन मंत्री महेश शर्मा ने विवादित बयान दिया है. महेश शर्मा ने कहा कि विदेशी महिला सैलानी स्कर्ट ना पहनें... इसके साथ ही महेश शर्मा ने महिला पर्यटकों को रात में अकेले ना घूमने की नसीहत भी दी है. महेश शर्मा ने कहा कि एयरपोर्ट पर पर्यटकों को क्या करना चाहिए और क्या नहीं करना चाहिए इसके लिए एयरपोर्ट पर ही पर्यटकों को नियमावली बुकलेट सौंपी जा रही है... इस बुकलेट में विदेशी पर्यटकों की सुरक्षा के मद्देनजर कुछ सुझाव दिए गए हैं...इसमें पर्यटकों को यह भी बताया जा रहा है कि वो एयरपोर्ट से जब कोई टैक्सी लें तो उसका नंबर अपने किसी मित्र या परिजन को भेंज दें...विवाद होने पर अपने बयान पर सफाई देते हुए महेश शर्मा ने कहा कि वे किसी के कपड़ों को लेकर टिप्पणी नहीं कर रहे. महेश शर्मा ने कहा कि वेलकम किट में पर्यटकों से कहा जा रहा है कि भारत विभिन्न संस्कृतियों और मंदिरों वाला देश है, वे इसके अनुरूप ही ड्रेस पहनें।
