വൃദ്ധ മാതാപിതാക്കളെ സംരക്ഷിക്കാത്ത മക്കള്‍ക്കെതിരേ നടപടിയെടുക്കാന്‍ സാമൂഹ്യനീതി വകുപ്പ് ഉത്തരവിറക്കി.
സാമൂഹ്യനീതി വകുപ്പ് 2007ല്‍ പാസാക്കിയ മെയിന്റനന്‍സ് ആന്‍ഡ് വെല്‍ഫെയര്‍ ഓഫ് പേരന്റ്‌സ് ആന്‍ഡ് സീനിയര്‍ സിറ്റിസണ്‍ ആക്ട് പ്രകാരം മാതാപിതാക്കളെ സംരക്ഷിക്കാത്ത മക്കള്‍ക്കെതിരേ നിയമ നടപടിയെടുക്കാന്‍ വ്യവസ്ഥയുണ്ട്.
ഈ നിയമപ്രകാരം കണ്ണൂര്‍ ജില്ലയില്‍ മാത്രമാണ് ഇതുവരെ നടപടി സ്വീകരിച്ചിരുന്നത്. പിന്നീട്, കാസര്‍കോട്, വയനാട് ജില്ലകളില്‍ ഇതുമായി ബന്ധപ്പെട്ട നടപടിക്രമങ്ങള്‍ക്ക് തുടക്കമിട്ടെങ്കിലും പ്രാവര്‍ത്തികമായിരുന്നില്ല. ഇപ്പോള്‍ എല്ലാ ജില്ലകളിലും നടപ്പാക്കാന്‍ ജില്ലകളിലെ സാമൂഹ്യനീതി ഓഫിസര്‍മാര്‍ക്കും ആര്‍.ഡി.ഒമാര്‍ക്കും ടെക്‌നിക്കല്‍ അസിസ്റ്റന്റുമാര്‍ക്കും സാമൂഹ്യനീതി ഡയറക്ടര്‍ ഉത്തരവ് നല്‍കിയിരിക്കുകയാണ്.
സാമൂഹ്യപ്രവര്‍ത്തകന്‍ ഫാറൂഖ് നല്‍കിയ നിവേദനത്തിന്റെ അടിസ്ഥാനത്തിലാണ് ഇത്തരമൊരു നടപടി.
വൃദ്ധ സദനങ്ങളിലെ അന്തേവാസികളുടെ ബന്ധുക്കളെ കണ്ടെത്തുന്നതിന് ആവശ്യമായ ഇടപെടലുകള്‍ നടത്തുന്നതിന് സ്ഥാപന മേധാവികള്‍ക്കും നിര്‍ദേശം നല്‍കിയിട്ടുണ്ട്.
താമസക്കാരുടെ വ്യക്തിഗത റെക്കോര്‍ഡുകളില്‍ രേഖപ്പെടുത്താനും അവരെ ബന്ധുക്കള്‍ക്കൊപ്പം താമസിപ്പിക്കുന്നതിനാവശ്യമായ നടപടി സ്വീകരിക്കാനും ബന്ധപ്പെട്ട ഉദ്യോഗസ്ഥരെ ചുമതലപ്പെടുത്തി. ബന്ധുക്കളുണ്ടായിട്ടും വൃദ്ധ മാതാപിതാക്കളെ സംരക്ഷിക്കാന്‍ തയാറാകാത്ത മക്കള്‍ക്കെതിരേ നടപടി സ്വീകരിക്കുന്നതിനും നിര്‍ദേശം നല്‍കിയിട്ടുണ്ട്. ആദ്യഘട്ടമായി ശേഖരിച്ച സര്‍ക്കാര്‍ വൃദ്ധമന്ദിരങ്ങളില്‍ താമസിക്കുന്നവരുടെ വിവരങ്ങളനുസരിച്ച് ഇവരെ വീട്ടിലേക്ക് കൂട്ടിക്കൊണ്ടുപോകണമെന്ന് ബന്ധുക്കളോട് കത്തിലൂടെ ആവശ്യപ്പെടും. ഇതിന് തയാറാകാത്തവരില്‍ നിന്ന് മാസംതോറും 10,000 രൂപ ഈടാക്കും. ഇല്ലെങ്കില്‍ ചുരുങ്ങിയത് മൂന്നുമാസം തടവ് ശിക്ഷയനുഭവിക്കേണ്ടിവരും. വൃദ്ധമന്ദിരത്തില്‍ കഴിയുന്നവരുടെ ചികിത്സയുള്‍പ്പെടെയുള്ള ആവശ്യങ്ങള്‍ക്കാണ് ഈ തുക വിനിയോഗിക്കുക.
സാമൂഹിക പ്രവർത്തകനായ ഫാറൂഖ് ഇരിക്കൂറിന്റെ ചുവടു വെയ്പ്പാണ് അധികൃതരെ മക്കൾ ഉപേക്ഷിക്കപ്പെട്ട മാതാപിതാക്കൾക്ക് നേരെ കണ്ണ് തുറക്കാൻ സഹായിച്ചത്.
