Shamsher Singh, grandson of Bhai Hirda Ram, said that apart from the installation of the idol in his grandfather's mandi, there was no recognition from the state or central governments. He said that his grandfather came to Mandi in 1929 after serving life sentence. But the British government had banned his coming to the market. He could come home only after the country became independent. Today Veer Savarkar has been given the honor of Tamrapatra whereas Bhai Hirda Ram should also be honored with Tamrapatra or other big honour.
