The benchmark BSE Sensex continued its rising trend by gaining 89 points to 28,212.30 in early trade today on sustained foreign fund inflows. The 30-share index rose 88.86 points or 0.31 per cent to 28,212.30. The gauge had gained 117.07 points in the previous session. Also, the NSE Nifty was quoting 23.35 points or 0.26 per cent higher at 8,673.25.

The 30-share BSE Sensex has been trading higher by 8.94 points, or 0.03%, to 27,783.82, while the Nifty 50 of the National Stock Exchange (NSE) falls 2.45 points, or 0.03%, to 8,572.85. Shanghai Composite was quoting 0.17 per cent lower while Hong Kong's Hang Seng shed 0.27 per cent in their opening sessions, tracking overnight losses on the US markets. Shares of Sun Pharma, SBI, Tata Motors, GAIL, Power Grid, L&T, Coal India, M&M and Asian Paint saw profit-booking, which dragged down the indices. The Indian rupee on Thursday has weakened against the US dollar at 66.87 a dollar, down 0.22% from its previous close of 66.72.

Rupee's free fall continues as it sinks to an all time low of over 68 against the U.S dollar.
Stock markets tracked the rupee weakness and opened in the red. Sensex plunged 400 points. Early in the day, it made a light recovery but continues to fluctuate.
While Nifty is trading over 100 points lower. Gold prices too reacted to the sinking rupee. Recorded an all time high of over 34 thousand rupees per 10 gms. The opposition meanwhile is quick to lash out at the government and demanded the resignation of the UPA Government.
