പേരില് കോട്ടയുണ്ടെങ്കിലും ഇവിടെ കോട്ടയുടെ ശേഷിപ്പുകളൊന്നും കാണാനില്ല. പഴശിയും ബ്രിട്ടീഷ് സൈന്യവും ഏറ്റുമുട്ടിയവേളയില് പഴശിയുടെ സൈന്യം ഈ മലയില് തമ്പടിച്ച് പടനയിച്ചെന്നാണ് ഐതിഹ്യം. അന്നിവിടെ കോട്ട പണിതെന്നും പറയുന്നു. അതുകൊണ്ടാണത്രേ ഈ പ്രദേശത്തിന് കുറുമ്പാലക്കോട്ടയെന്ന് പേരുവന്നത്. എന്തായാലും നിലവില് വയനാട്ടിലെത്തുന്ന വിനോദസഞ്ചാരികളുടെ ഹോട്ട് സ്പോട്ടാണ് ഇവിടം. രാവിലത്തെ സൂര്യോദയവും, വൈകിട്ടത്തെ അസ്തമയവുമെല്ലാം ഏറെ മനോഹരം.
