यौन उत्पीड़न के आरोपों से घिरे मेघालय के राज्यपाल वी. षणमुगनाथन ने अपने पद से इस्तीफा दे दिया है। बताया जा रहा है कि राजभवन के कर्मियों के एक समूह ने उन पर राज्यपाल के कार्यालय की गरिमा से 'गंभीर समझौता' करने का आरोप लगाया था। इसके लिए उन्होंने प्रधानमंत्री कार्यालय, राष्ट्रपति प्रणब मुखर्जी और गृह मंत्रालय को चिट्ठी लिखकर उन्हें हटाने की मांग की थी। कर्मचारियों का आरोप था कि 'राज्यपाल की हरकतों से राजभवन की प्रतिष्ठा और राजभवन के कर्मचारियों की भावनाएं आहत हुई हैं। चिट्ठी में लिखा गया था कि 'गंभीर रूप से राजभवन की प्रतिष्ठा की अनदेखी' की गई है और इसे एक 'यंग लेडीज़ क्लब' बना दिया गया है जिससे राजभवन के कर्मचारियों को 'मानसिक तनाव और तकलीफ़' हुई है।
