Garcia has been regularly serving a family that includes a 5-year-old with Down Syndrome, Milo, reports Fox News.

The rude family visited the restaurant and began to ridicule Milo. They then moved to a table further away from the 5 year old and said “special needs children need to be special somewhere else.”

Garcia told Fox News: “Milo wasn’t being bad, he was just talking and making little noises. My personal feelings took over because that’s ignorance in my opinion and I told him, ‘Sir, I won’t be able to serve you.''

Waiter Michael Garcia told a man making comments about a 5-year-old boy with Down syndrome that he couldn't serve him.

Waiter's aren't usually praised for refusing to serve customers, but one waiter is facing a tidal wave of support and praise after he did just that.

On Jan. 16, Michael Garcia, a waiter at Laurenzo's, a steakhouse in Houston, refused to serve a customer who was making comments about a 5-year-old boy named Milo with Down syndrome sitting nearby, Fox News reported. Fox said the customer got up and moved his family farther away from Milo.

The customer also reportedly said, 'Special needs children need to be special somewhere else.'

That's when Garcia stepped in and told the man, 'Sir, I won't be able to serve you.'

The man and his family left the restaurant, but the incident has since gone viral, inspiring an outpouring of praise for Garcia.

Laurenzo's Facebook page has seen a slew of posts thanking Garcia.

'Thank you Mr. Garcia, I have a 17 year old son with Down syndrome and I love to hear about people like yourself standing up for people with disabilities,' Facebook user Rick Parker posted.

Tisha Baker wrote, 'Thank you so much for speaking up when most just turn away.'

The praise has not been limited to Texans.

'BRAVO Michael! BRAVO! STANDING OVATION from Massachusetts!' Rick Stoddard posted.

Waiter who refused service to customer becomes Web hero
Usually, when a waiter refuses to serve someone at a restaurant, customers complain. In this case, customers cheered.
The waiter in question, Michael Garcia, has been receiving goodwill and friend requests on the restaurant's Facebook page since word spread that he stood up for a child with special needs.
Garcia, who works at the Houston restaurant Laurenzo's, was waiting on a family, regulars with a 5-year-old child, Milo, who has Down syndrome. The server said that another family at the restaurant commented on Milo's behavior, which Garcia described as 'talking and making little noises.' Garcia moved the complaining family to another table, but they were still unhappy. 'Special needs children need to be special somewhere else,' the father reportedly said.
The waiter then took a stand. He told FoxNews.com that such talk is ignorant and is due to people's fear of the unknown. 'My personal feelings took over,' he said, leading him to tell the father, 'Sir, I won't be able to serve you.' The family left the restaurant.
It didn't take long for the story to get out. The eatery's Facebook page has received praise from people in Texas and beyond.
