मेजर एल.एन. जोशी के नेतृत्व में उत्तराखण्ड के ऋषिकेश से शुरू होने वाली गंगा मशाल यात्रा अपने निर्धारित कार्यक्रम के अनुसार बिजनौर के गंगा बैराज घाट पर पहुंची जहां जिलाधिकारी उमेश मिश्रा और पुलिस अधीक्षक डाॅ0 धर्मवीर सिंह सहित जिले के प्रशासनिक एवं पुलिस अधिकारियों ने मशाल यात्रा का भव्य रूप से स्वागत किया। जिलाधिकारी उमेश मिश्रा ने बताया कि गंगा मशाल यात्रा का आयोजन महानिदेशक राष्ट्रीय स्वच्छ गंगा मिशन, जल शक्ति मंत्रालय, जल संसाधन, नदी विकास और गंगा संरक्षण विभाग भारत सरकार के निर्देशों के अनुक्रम में आजादी का अमृत महोत्सव कार्यक्रम के अंतर्गत किया गया है। उन्होंने बताया कि गंगा मशाल यात्रा का उद्देश्य जन सामान्य को गंगा की पवित्रता स्वच्छता और उसके महत्व के प्रति जागरूक करना है। उन्होंने कहा कि गंगा भारतीय धार्मिक, सांस्कृतिक एवं ऐतिहासिक रूप से देश में अपना महत्वपूर्ण स्थान रखती है, उसको पवित्र, स्वच्छ और निर्मल बनााए रखना सभी भारतीयों का कर्तव्य है।
इस अवसर पर विभिन्न स्कूल, काॅलेजों के छात्र-छात्राओं द्वारा देशभक्ति पर आधारित गीतों पर नृत्य एवं विभिन्न सांस्कृति कार्यक्रम प्रस्तुत किए गए तथा देश एवं जिले के मशहूर जादूगर एन.ए. पाशा द्वारा जादू शो के माध्यक से दर्शकों को अभिभूत करते हुए शासकीय योजनाओं एवं कार्यक्रम का प्रचार प्रसार किया गया। इस दौरान प्रतियोगिता में प्रतिभागी विजेताओं को प्रमाण पत्र एवं प्रशस्ति पत्र का वितरण किया गया।
इस मौके पर सदर विधायक सूची चैधरी, जिला पंचायत राज अधिकारी सहित जनपद के विभिन्न अधिकारी और कर्मचारी उपस्थित रहे।

Una (Himachal Pradesh) : The Golden Year Vijay Mashal Yatra today arrived at MC Park in the district headquarters of Una, bringing back memories of the 1971 India-Pakistan war. The Vijay Mashal which was flagged off from Delhi by PM Narendra Modi, was given a grand welcome by the military and administrative officials at the old bus stand Chowk of una. During the same ceremony held at MC Park, the torch was set up at the Shaheed Smarak in the presence of the brave soldiers of the district who participated during the 1971 war and the brave women who sacrificed their lives for the country in this war. During the program, the school children gathered a lot by giving cultural presentations filled with patriotism. The special performance of the same Army band also fascinated the people present.
