Pop star Kelly Clarkson isn't singing her praises over record executive Clive Davis' new memoir.
The 'Stronger' singer says she wants to set the record straight over what she calls 'false information' in Davis' book. She claims the 80-year-old Sony Music Entertainment CCO mixed up details and omitted others when writing about her.
'I refuse to be bullied and I just have to clear up his memory lapses ... It feels like a violation,' the 30-year-old Clarkson said in a recent online post, 'Growing up is awesome because you learn you don't have to cower to anyone - even Clive Davis.'
Clarkson cites an incident in Davis' book in which he allegedly claims that she cried in his office after not wanting the chart-topping single 'Since You've Been Gone' on her album. She claims this is false, and that she did cry in his office once but that was over another song, 'Because of You.'
'[Davis] told me verbatim that I was a 'sh*tty writer who should be grateful for the gifts that he bestows upon me,'' Clarkson said in her post. '['Because of You'] became a worldwide hit. He didn't include that in the book.'
Among her other claims, Clarkson says that Davis once 'stood up in front of his company at a convention and belittled me and my music.' That's not in the book either

Kelly Clarkson accused the label executive Clive Davis of distorting their tumultuous history in his newly published memoir “The Soundtrack of My Life,” saying his account of how he managed her career was full of “memory lapses and misinformation.”
“Growing up is awesome because you learn you don’t have to cower to anyone — even Clive Davis,” Ms. Clarkson said in a vitriolic letter posted on the Whosay Web site.
In his book, Mr. Davis, the founder of Arista and currently the chief creative officer of Sony Music Entertainment, paints a portrait of Ms. Clarkson as a headstrong and outspoken diva who sometimes ignored his advice.
He said she bitterly opposed putting “Since U Been Gone” and “Behind These Hazel Eyes” — two songs written by the hitmakers Max Martin and Dr. Luke — on her second album, “Breakthrough.” Both became big hits and helped her career. Mr. Davis relates how Ms. Clarkson “burst into hysterical sobbing” when he insisted on including the tracks.
He also accused her of disregarding his advice to delay the release of her third album, “My December,” on which she co-wrote the songs, because he believed it did not have enough tracks with Top 10 potential. That album had only one Top 10 hit and sold few copies compared to “Breakaway,” which sold more than six million copies in the United States alone and established Ms. Clarkson as a major pop star.

In his new memoir out Tuesday, the 80-year-old music mogul, who is twice divorced, reveals that he had sex with a man in the 1970s. Davis writes in 'The Soundtrack of My Life' that he hadn't been repressed or confused during his marriages and that sex with a man 'provided welcome relief.'
Davis is the chief creative officer of Sony Music Entertainment. He writes that he's been in a 'strong monogamous relationship' with a man for the last seven years.
He also writes that he dated a man from 1990 to 2004, which he says was a 'tough adjustment' for his son Mitchell. He says after 'one trying year,' he and his son worked things out. Davis is the father of three children.
In a new interview with ABC's Nightline, Davis says bisexuality is 'maligned and misunderstood,' adding, 'I'm not lying. Bisexuality does exist. For over 50 years I never had sex with a male. It wasn't repressed. I had very good sexual relationships with women.'
In the book, Davis also delves into his experiences in the music industry, recounting his time with Whitney Houston, Bruce Springsteen, Simon & Garfunkel, Janis Joplin, Carlos Santana, the Grateful Dead and others.
He recalls speaking with Houston in the days leading up to her 2012 death, noting how the singer had said she was back on track.
