While speaking in the Lok Sabha, a determined and confident Sonia Gandhi asserted, 'Some people ask whether we have enough resources to successfully implement this bill. But it is not a question of how we find means to implement Food Bill; we have to find the way. The question is not whether we can do it or not; we have to do it. Some people also ask whether this bill is beneficial for the farmers. I want to underline that we have always given prominence to farmers and agriculture'. New Delhi: President Pranab Mukherjee on Thursday approved Congress president Sonia Gandhi's dream project - the food security bill, making it a law. 'The national food security bill, 2013 has received the assent of the President of India,' said a statement from the Rashtrapati Bhavan. The Lok Sabha passed the bill August 26 while the Rajya Sabha cleared it September 2. The bill was introduced in Parliament in December 2011. The largest scheme anywhere in the world gives right to subsidised grains to two-thirds of India's 1.2 billion population numbering around 800 million.

Why has the Karnataka Government not reduced the VAT on diesel, just like our Congress led governments have done? So it is very easy to criticize others but what about you (the state government), what are you doing to reduce the hardships of your people? It is your (state government’s) responsibility as much as ours†said Sonia Gandhi.
