Google has posted a new doodle on its homepage to mark German musician and composer Clara Schumann’s 193rd birth anniversary.
The Google homepage greets visitors with a doodle of Clara Schumann with her eight kids appearing to play the piano.
Clara Josephine Wieck was born in Leipzig on September 13. She was considered one of the most distinguished pianists of the Romantic era. She was one of the first pianists to perform from memory, making that the standard for concertising.
Clara used to believe that “Composing gives me great pleasure... there is nothing that surpasses the joy of creation, if only because through it one wins hours of self-forgetfulness, when one lives in a world of sound.”
Her key achievement was that she changed the music taste of the listening public.
At the age of 76, Clara suffered a heart attack and eventually died of a stroke in 1895.

Search engine giant Google on Wednesday celebrated American Graphic Designer Saul Bass's 93rd birthday with one of its most unique and innovative doodle featuring a video of his trademark designs in film credits and film posters.
The new doodle shows a sequence of Bass' best works in films with the tunes of jazz composer Dave Brubeck's 'Unsquare Dance' playing in the background.
In a career that spanned three decades, Bass worked with some of the best filmmakers like Alfred Hitchcock, Otto Perminger, BillyWider Stanley Kubrick and Martin Scorsese.
Born on 8 May, 1920 in New York, Bass' artistic talent was evident since childhood. He attended the Arts Student League and worked as a freelance designer for several years. His breakthrough came in 1954 when he was assigned to design a film poster for Otto Preminger's 'Carmen Jones'. Bass' sophisticated composition in the black and white poster featuring Dorothy Dandridge in an eye-popping red skirt impressed the director so much that the designer went on to make the title sequence.
His dramatic designs added a whole new dimension to the industry and soon several filmmakers roped him in the design stages of production. Some of his best works were seen in 'The Man with Golden Arms', 'North by Northwest', 'Psycho' 'Vertigo' and 'Spartacus'. In the 1990s, he also created title sequences for &q

Google on Tuesday paid tribute to Carlos Juan Finlay, a Cuban physician and scientist, on his 180th birthday by dedicating a doodle on its homepage.
The doodle also features mosquitoes breeding on the leaves in the stagnant water.
Born on December 3, 1833 in Puerto Principe, Cuba, of French and Scottish descent, Finaly was widely popular as a scientist and physician.
He is recognized as a pioneer in yellow fever research who put forward the theory that the virus is transmitted by the bite of female mosquitoes.
Finlay attended Jefferson Medical College in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania and graduated in 1855. After completing his studies he started his own medical practice in Havana.
His contribution to medical science was highly admired as he propounded the etiology of yellow fever - its causes and origins. During his time, yellow fever was considered to be a serious disease in Havana.
Despite his effort, his contributions were only widely recognized in 1900. And soon after his hypothesis was recognized he was appointed as the chief health officer of Cuba from 1902 to 1909.
His discovery also helped other scientist in carrying out experiments on mosquito-borne diseases.
For his contribution, Carlos Juan Finlay was nominated seven times for the Nobel Prize in Physiology or Medicine.

Google's latest doodle celebrates the 360th birthday of the man widely credited with inventing the piano.
Bartolomeo Cristofori was born in Padua on this day in 1655 in what was then the Republic of Venice.
According to Encyclopaedia Britannica, the instrument Cristofori invented was referred to during his lifetime as a harpsichord that plays soft and loud, from which its name is derived. In Italian, the phrase is gravicembalo col piano e forte.
On the blog dedicated to its doodles, Google wrote that one of Cristofori's 'biggest innovations was creating a hammer mechanism that struck the strings on a keyboard to create sound. The use of a hammer made it possible to produce softer or louder sounds depending upon how light or hard a player pressed on the keys'.
It added: 'Being able to change the volume was a major breakthrough. And that's exactly what doodler Leon Hong wanted to highlight in this interactive doodle.'
Cristofori's entry in Encyclopaedia Britannica notes that little is known of his life and that his invention was not well known in his lifetime, even if it has since become ubiquitous.
It reads: 'Cristofori apparently invented the piano around 1709, and, according to contemporary sources, four of his pianos existed in 1711.'
