Two people drowned while one escaped unhurt when a car they were travelling in fell into a canal near Satwari area on city outskirts here today.
“A car on way from Giddar Galiyan to Maralian during wee hours accidentally plunged into the canal near Satwari area,” Shazad Salaria, SP South here today said.

According to police, an A-Star car bearing registration number JK06-6146, which was on its way from Khaleeni to Doda, on reaching Pul Doda near Jamia Masjid, on Batote-Doda-Kishtwar National Highway, skidded off the road and after rolling down 150 meters, it fell on the Bank of River Chenab. He said the mishap occurred due to negligence of the driver, who lost control over the vehicle while negotiating a curve.
