Afcons built five BG single-line railway tunnels for Konkan Railway Corporation Limited (KRCL) in Sangaldan, a remote location situated some 185 km from Jammu. The job was part of the Udhampur-Srinagar-Baramulla-Rail Link (USBRL) project. The tunnels fell in the Katra-Laole section of the project. It was an extremely challenging project not only for the complex geological variations, but also for the erstwhile terrorist activities that put the life of our engineers at risk. Afcons played a huge role in transforming the villages scattered in and around Sangaldan, while silently completing the project. The USBRL project is one of the most ambitious and challenging projects in the northern part of Jammu & Kashmir.
