Opposition National Conference (NC) and the Congress today staged a walkout from the Legislative Council alleging lack of transparency in appointments in various government bodies.
BJP MLC Vibodh Gupta also joined the opposition and raised the issue of the alleged discrimination with districts and region in the recruitments. He sought a reply from the government on this.
The Opposition got agitated after the Minister for Agriculture, Ghulam Nabi Lone Hanjura, in the House said, '21490 selections have been made during the last two years in various government department by the recruiting agencies'.
'Apart from this, 132 selections have been made in various autonomous bodies under the administrative control of the departments,' he said.

Opposition today staged a walkout from the Jammu and Kashmir Assembly after protests and uproarious scenes jammed the proceedings over clash between people belonging to two communities in Kathua district of the state.
Demanding an assurance and statement from the government, opposition members of NC, Congress, CPI (M) and Kashmir-based legislators trooped near the well and resorted to anti-government slogans for its 'failure' in ensuring peace and security at the place where the clash occurred.
Amid sloganeering, protest and noisy scenes, NC MLC Mian Altaf said that the government has 'failed' to protect Gujjars who have been 'targeted' by locals.

As soon as the House assembled in the morning, NC MLA Ali Mohammad Sagar stood up and raised the issue which, he said, had 'exposed' the government's claims.
'There are several areas in Kashmir which are without electricity for the past 2-3 days. The snowfall has exposed the claims of the government in providing basic facilities to the people of the state,' Sagar said.
