The members of Police Retired Officers Association (Non-Gazetted) held a protest demonstration at Pratap Park in Srinagar against the Government and highlighted their demands and grievances.
The protesters raised slogans in support of their demands which include removal of pay anomaly, adequate increase in medical allowance, adoption of medical insurance policy and increase in the reservation quota.
he protesting retired officers said that the authorities had assured them that Seventh Pay Commission will be implemented, their grievances will be addressed but nothing has been done yet. “We met many ministers in past, including Finance Minister and Chief Minister and they promised us that they will address our grievances before Seventh Pay Commission. We have assembled here today to remind them of their promise,” they said.

The protest was led by Chairman J&K Police (Non-Gazetted) Pensioners Welfare Association Ajit Singh in which all the retired police personnel of Districts Samba and Kathua participated. The protesters highlighted their demands including removal of pay anomalies, enhancement of Medical Allowance, reservation of their wards in Police recruitment, cashless health care to the retired persons and their dependants at par with army ex-servicemen, payment of a cash relief of Rs 50,000 at the time of death of retired police person for his last rites, etc.
