Jammu and Kashmir Police on Saturday claimed to have arrested a drug peddler and two burglars from the frontier district of Kupwara in north Kashmir.
An official said that Fayaz Ahmad Ganie, a resident of Tikipora village, was nabbed last evening along with around 1500 grams of Charas.
Another official said that two burglars were arrested in Sogam town today. A cell phone and Rs 50000 stolen cash were recovered from their possession, he said.
He identified the accused as Parvez Ahmad Mir and Rashik Lone, both residents of Tangchak village.

Two persons were arrested today for allegedly smuggling 15 kg of heroin, bearing 'Pakistani markings', on the outskirts of the city, police said.

JAMMU LINKS NEWS | In a major success against drug trafficking and possible narco-terrorism, the Jammu and Kashmir police today seized 51 kilograms of high-grade Afghan-origin heroin worth over Rs 250 crore from a Punjab-bound truck here.
The police also arrested the truck driver and his helper following 'the biggest ever catch' in Jammu region and are questioning them to unveil the persons involved in the drug trafficking, Jammu's Inspector General of Police S D Singh Jamwal told reporters here this evening.
Without ruling out the possibility of the consignment being part of narco-terrorism with the sale proceeds of the consignment meant for terror funding, the IGP said, It's a matter of investigation and we are on the job.
Terming the catch as the biggest surgical strike on the menace of drugs, the Jammu police chief said the truck laden with scrap paper was going to Punjab from Handwara area of north Kashmir's border district Kupwara and was intercepted by the police near Narwal-Bhatindi bypass on outskirts of the city on a specific information.
The consignment kept in 51 packets of one kilogram each was concealed in a specially created cavity on the side walls of the truck, he said, adding that the timely seizure of the consignment saved the lives of the youth.

JAMMU: Four people were arrested and over 15 kg of heroin and Rs 24 lakh cash was seized from them in Jammu city, a senior police officer said today.
They were arrested during an anti-drugs operation yesterday. Rs 24,23,500 in cash and 15.3 kg of heroin was seized by a police team, Inspector General of Police (Jammu Zone) S D Singh Jamwal told reporters here.
The matter is being probed, he said.
The officer said that it was a night-long operation in which the police yesterday also seized 50 kg of poppy and arrested two people in Poonch district.

FACTS OF THE CASE:
Nemi Chand Bhati and Narpath Singh r/o Rathori Kuva of Nagaur district of Rajastan state. Nemi chand used to get Heroin and MDMA from one Santhosh Achary, who is a main drug peddler, presently lodged in Jodhpur jail and sell the drug to needy customers and other peddlers. Nemi Chand came to Hyderabad 2½ months back to his Brother in Law Ajay Bhati and discussed about selling of Heroin and MDMA to get huge money he & his friend Harish Sirvi agreed. All planned to dispose it in Madhapur of Hyderabad for a good price. As per their plan Nemi Chand and Narpath Singh came to Hyderabad with one KG of Heroin (Four packets each contains 250 grams) and met Ajay Bhati and Harish Sirvi sell the drug in Hyderabad. On credible information police apprehended them along with one KG of Heroin.
