Gunfight has erupted between militants and security forces in Awneera village of Kashmir’s Southern district of Shopian on Saturday.

Reports said that 55 RR of Army and SOG of Jammu and Kashmir Police launched cordon in the village over the specific intelligence of militant presence.

As forces zeroed in the area, reports said that militants opened fire on the forces resulting in the gun battle.

Intense exchange of fire is going on.
