Komite Nasional Keselamatan Tranportasi (KNKT) menyebutkan ada permasalahan serius terhadap sistem perangkat mesin pesawat Lion PK-LQP. Kondisi ini menyebabkan pilot kehilangan kontrol sehingga pesawat terjatuh.
Anehnya permasalahan ini sebenarnya sudah terdeteksi sejak 3 hari sebelum pesawat jatuh. Tercatat ada 6 persoalan sama terjadi dalam rentang waktu tersebut.
Namun dalam penerbangan terakhir, mekanik pesawat menyatakan permasalahan ini sudah teratasi. Pesawat pun dinyatakan laik terbang.
