Celebrated web-animator Monty Oum has died at the age of 33 in Austin, Texas. Oum passed away on February 1, his death was announced on February 2.

1. He had been rushed to hospital and had been in intensive care since late- January. Oum is believed to have had an allergic reaction. His death was first announced in a statement from animation company Rooster Teeth.

2. A Go Fund Me page had been set up to help pay for the animator's spiraling medical costs. At the time of his death, the page had raised $180,340. The page made it clear that it was unknown if Oum was going to survive after being rushed to hospital.

3. He first came to proninonce in 2007 with his Halo-related fan movie, Haloid. One reviewer called it 'The most interesting Halo-related fan movie in existence.'

4. Oum was of Cambodian, Chinese, Japanese and Vietnamese heritage.
