तुर्की के राष्ट्रपति रजब तैयब एर्दोआन ने मंगलवार को सीरिया और रूस को चेतावनी देते हुए कहा कि अगर वे विद्रोहियों के कब्जे वाले क्षेत्र इदलिब प्रांत में हमले जारी रखना बंद नहीं करेंगे तो खून की नदियां बह जाएंगी। तुर्की ने धमकी देते हुए कहा कि हजारों बेकसूरों का खून बहेगा। लोगों को पलायन करने पर मजबूर होना पड़ेगा।

सीरियाई सरकार सहयोगी देश रूस एवं ईरान और विद्रोहियों का समर्थन करने वाले तुर्की के नेताओं के बीच तेहरान में हुई शिखर वार्ता इदलिब में संघर्ष को रोकने के मुद्दे पर सहमति बनाने में नाकाम रही।

शनिवार को दर्जनों रूसी लड़ाकू विमानों ने इदलिब के दक्षिणी एवं दक्षिणपूर्वी इलाकों में हवाई हमले किए। ब्रिटेन स्थित निगरानी समूह ने कहा कि हमले में कम से कम चार आम नागरिक मारे गए जिनमें दो बच्चे शामिल हैं।
