If asked who should be credited of making the American society more liberal for the black people, than it would be none other than Martin Luther King Jr. A Nobel laureate, Baptist Minister and humanitarian, Martin led the African-American Civil Rights Movements and is regarded as one of the most significant leader in the US history.

Born on January 15, 1929 as Michael King, he is regarded as the man who had the ability to turn the tide for equal opportunity with peaceful offerings and solutions. He played a pivotal role in ending the legal segregation of the African-American citizens in the South and other areas of the nation, as well as creating the Civil Rights Act of 1964 and the Voting Rights Act of 1965. Among his many efforts, he also founded and headed the Southern Christian Leadership.
