Amre Moussa, the Secretary General of Arab League was a speaker at International Conference to mark the 125th birth anniversary of India's first Prime Minister Pt Jawaharlal Nehru at Vigyan Bhawan, New Delhi, on Nov 18, 2014.
Mr. Moussa graduated in 1957 from the Faculty of Law, Cairo University, and joined the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Egypt in 1958. He worked in several Egyptian missions including Egypt’s Embassy in Switzerland and the Egyptian Mission to the United Nations from 1958 to 1972. He was appointed advisor to the Minister for Foreign Affairs of Egypt in 1974 and served in that post until 1977, became director of the Department of International Organizations, during the period 1977 to 1981 then served as Deputy Permanent Representative to the United Nations in New York
From 1981 to 1983.In 1983 he was appointed Ambassador to India where he served until 1986 and returned to Egypt to head the Department of International Organizations until 1990 where he was appointed Permanent Representative of Egypt to the United Nations. Mr. Moussa was appointed Minister of Foreign Affairs of Egypt from 1991 to 2001..
