आंध्र प्रदेश और ओडिशा बार्डर में पुलिस बल और माओवादियों के बीच हुई मुठभेड़ में 18 माओवादी को मार गिराने का पुलिस ने दावा किया है। इस मुठभेड़ में दो पुलिसकर्मी के गंभीररूप से घायल होने की भी खबर है। इलाके में पुलिस का सर्च आपरेशन जारी है। यह एनकाउंटर मल्कानगिरी से 10 किलोमीटर की दूरी पर हुआ है। यह आंध्र प्रदेश पुलिस के विशेष दल ग्रेहाउंड और ओडिशा पुलिस की संयुक्त कार्रवाई थी। मौके से पुलिस को चार एके 47 राइफल, तीन सेल्फ लोडिंग राइफल और कुछ अन्य बंदूकें बरामद की गई हैं। पुलिस से मिली जानकारी के अनुसार मलकानगिरी ओडिशा के माओवाद प्रभावित जिलों में से एक है। बताया जा रहा है कि मुठभेड़ के समय कैंप में 50-60 माओवादी मौजूद थे, जिनमें से 18 को ढेर कर दिया गया। पुलिस का कहना है कि इस जगह पर माओवादियों की एक बड़ी बैठक होने वाली थी, जिसकी सूचना पुलिस को मिली थी।
