Odisha BJP Wants Prime Minister Modi To Contest From Puri In 2019
BJP's Odisha unit today said that party leaders and workers want Prime Minister Narendra Modi to contest from the Puri constituency in the 2019 Lok Sabha elections.
Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) state unit President Basant Panda said the party will forward its proposal to the national leadership in this regard. Pinaki Mishra is the BJD lawmaker from Puri at present.
'We want the Prime Minister to contest the 2019 elections from Puri. However, the final decision will be taken by the BJP Parliamentary Board,' said Mr Panda..

A day after Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s no-holds-barred attack on the Naveen Patnaik Government for rejecting the Centre’s flagship Ayushman Bharat health insurance scheme, BJP president Amit Shah cautioned the Odisha Government that his party will launch a massive campaign against the anti-poor decision of the State.
Coming down heavily on the Chief Minister for depriving Odisha people of the benefit of Pradhan Mantri Jan Arogya Yojana (PMJAY), one of the biggest heath care programmes in the world, Shah in a series of tweets said the politically motivated decision of Patnaik is reprehensible.“The benefit of the Central health care programme is not reaching the poor people of Odisha due to meanness of the BJD. The Chief Minister is depriving them the benefit either due to cheap political gain or his antipathy towards the BJP,” Shah said in a tweet.

BJP has forgotten its poll promises: Naveen Patnaik
The BJD President and Odisha Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik on Tuesday attended a sit-in of his party here, demanding increase in the minimum support price for paddy and slamming the Modi government for not keeping its promises.
Patnaik said that despite repeated requests to the Centre to raise the Minimum Support Price (MSP) of paddy to 2,930 per quintal, they were ignored. “The BJP came to power with assurance of increasing the Minimum Support Price of food grain as per the Swaminathan formula. I have gone to the Centre many times with this demand, but it has been ignored. It was promised by the BJP in 2014, but they have forgotten their promise after coming to power,” he said.
