Leonora Carrington OBE, was a British-born Mexican artist, surrealist painter, and novelist. She lived most of her adult life in Mexico City, and was one of the last surviving participants in the Surrealist movement of the 1930s.

Leonora Carrington (born April 6, 1917 in Clayton Green, South Lancaster, Lancashire, England) is a British-born artist, a surrealist painter and while living in Mexico, a novelist.
Her father was a wealthy industrialist, her mother was Irish. She also had an Irish nanny, Mary Cavanaugh, who told her Gaelic tales. Leonora had three brothers. Places she lived as a child included a house called Crooksey Hall.

Educated by governesses, tutors and nuns, she was expelled from many schools for her rebellious behavior until her family sent her to Florence where she attended Mrs. Penrose's Academy of Art. Her father was opposed to an artist's career for her, but her mother encouraged her. She returned to England and was presented at Court, but according to her, she brought a book to read by Aldous Huxley Eyeless in Gaza (1936), instead. In London she attended the Chelsea School of Art and joined the Academy of Amédée Ozenfant.

She saw her first Surrealist painting in a Left Bank gallery in 1927 (when she was ten years old), and met many surrealists, including Paul Eluard. (She was already familiar with surrealism from Herbert Read's book.).

Watch Here: Google posts a video doodle for Saul Bass' 93rd birthday!

Saul Bass (May 8, 1920 -- April 25, 1996) was an American graphic designer and filmmaker, best known for his design of motion picture title sequences, film posters, and corporate logos.

During his 40-year career Bass worked for some of Hollywood's most prominent filmmakers, including Alfred Hitchcock, Otto Preminger, Billy Wilder, Stanley Kubrick and Martin Scorsese. Among his most famous title sequences are the animated paper cut-out of a heroin addict's arm for Preminger's The Man with the Golden Arm, the credits racing up and down what eventually becomes a high-angle shot of a skyscraper in Hitchcock's North by Northwest, and the disjointed text that races together and apart in Psycho.

Bass designed some of the most iconic corporate logos in North America, including the AT&T 'bell' logo in 1969, as well as AT&T's 'globe' logo in 1983 after the breakup of the Bell System. He also designed Continental Airlines' 1968 'jetstream' logo and United Airlines' 1974 'tulip' logo which became some of the most recognized airline industry logos of the era. Google honored Saul Bass by featuring him in a Google Doodle on May 8, 2013.

AMBER CARRINGTON PERFORMS ADELE 'SKYFALL' ON 'THE VOICE' TOP 8 PERFORMANCES RECAP!

The top 8 perform on 'The Voice' including an impressive Adele cover and Carson Daly calls Usher 'Urkel'! Hello Voice fans, you're watching ClevverMusic with your Voice-Cap here on YouTube. Blake Shelton opened the live show with his new single, 'Boys 'Round Here', but it was all about the ladies on the Top 8 performance show. Standout performances included Team Adam's Judith Hill who shocked us by choosing to sing will.i.am ft. Justin Bieber song #ThatPower. It was an enormous risk doing an EDM song, check out the unique choice now.

We loved Judith's big outfit and creative performance! Her mentor Adam Levine said afterwards, 'This is not a contestant on 'The Voice'; this is an artist.' Word. Also from Team Adam was Sarah Simmons who sang the overplayed track Gotye 'Somebody That I Used to Know'. Sarah looked incredible but we don't think she sounded the best she ever has. Another fav of ours on the show was from Team Usher's lovable nerd Michelle Chamuel. At the start of the show Usher declared, 'I decided to join the Michelle Chamuel army,' and put on a pair of Michelle lookalike glasses to which Blake said, 'He is even hot in those glasses.' Host of the show Carson Daly also had to poke some fun at Usher for wearing the glasses, later saying, 'Ok Urkel, I mean... Usher!' A nice little Family Matters show reference there. Anyways, back to M
