Rajiv Gandhi Mahila Vikas Pariyojana (RGMVP) is a rights-based organisation working for poverty reduction, women's empowerment and rural development in Uttar Pradesh.

With a commitment to the poor's strong desire and innate ability to overcome poverty, RGMVP organises poor rural women into community organisations in the form of Self-Help Groups (SHGs), each with ten to twenty women.

RGMVP has lifted millions of women out of poverty and Anita, a resident of Amethi, Uttar Pradesh is one such beneficiary of RGMVP. Since the time Anita joined the Self Help Group it has given her immense confidence, not only was she able to repay the debt taken by her mother in law, but she has also provided financial assistance to her husband who bought a piece of land in Noida. Anita made sure that the land bought in Noida is registered in her name only.

In Uttar Pradesh RGMVP has a membership of 12 lakh women reaching 1 million household and a saving corpus of 430 million rupees. The SHG's work with women to secure their basic rights and entitlements, linking them to existing state and non-state structures and resources, such as the Mahatma Gandhi National Rural Employment
Guarantee Act and the National Rural Health Mission amongst others..
