उत्तर प्रदेश के जनपद बागपत के थाना छपरौली पुलिस की कार्यवाही से क्षुब्ध होकर परिवार के 20 लोगों ने हिन्दू धर्म अपनाया है जिसके बाद से देशभर में इस पर चर्चाएँ होने लगी है।
प्राप्त जानकारी के अनुसार मामला छपरौली थाने के बदरखां गांव का है जहां मुस्लिम जोगी परिवार के लोगों ने हिन्दुधर्म क़ुबूल किया है,धर्म बदलने वाले अख्तर अली ने न्यूज़ एजेंसी एनआईए को बताया कि उसका नाम अख्तर अली था। उसने अपना धर्म बदलकर हिन्दू धर्म स्वीकार कर लिया है। अख्तर अली धर्म बदलने के पीछे अहम कारण स्थानीय पुलिस की मनमानी और दबंगो के इशारे पर काम करना बताया।
अख्तर अली ने कहा कि पुलिस ने हमारे केस में निष्पक्षता से जांच नहीं की, यहाँ तक कि हमारे समुदाय के लोगों ने भी हमारा साथ नहीं दिया। अली ने कहा कि मोदी और योगी के भारत में मुसलमानो की कोई सुनवाई नहीं हो रही, इसलिए उसने इस्लाम धर्म त्यागकर हिन्दू धर्म स्वीकार करने को मजबूर होना पड़ा है।
ये नादान और कमजोर मुसलमान थे, इनको फिलिस्तीन,बर्मा, के मुसलमानो से सीखना चाहिए...इतने ज़ुल्म फिर भी इस्लाम का दामन थामे हुवे है....
