Fifteenth-seeded Norfolk State pulled off the signature upset of the NCAA tournament Friday, beating No. 2 Missouri 86-84.After Norfolk State missed three of four free throws in the final 7.7 seconds to keep Missouri within range, the Tigers' Phil Pressey missed a 3-pointer to seal the upset.It was just the fifth time in 111 games that a No. 15 has beaten a No. 2, with three of those wins coming by MEAC schools.The Spartans shot well all game, topping 50 percent from the floor and staying near the 50-percent mark on 3-pointers, while keeping turnovers to a mininum. Missouri found itself in a shootout and simply couldn't outscore the MEAC team.Norfolk State center Kyle O'Quinn earned himself some money in this game -- whether from an NBA team or overseas -- by putting up 26 points, 14 rebounds and 2 blocked shots (unofficially). But the Spartans got at least 20 points from two other players, too: Pendarvis Williams and Chris McEachin.With the score tied, O'Quinn provided one of the biggest baskets of the game with a putback -- and free throw -- on a teammate's air ball with 34.9 seconds left, giving NSU an 84-81 lead. The Spartans, dressed eerily like George Mason from 2006 (in green and gold) shocked Missouri (2 seed/#3 Overall in AP) 86-84 in a dazzling back and forth offensive clinic. It's a historic win for the historically black school from Norfolk, VA. These are the types of games that define March Madness, and with the win, the Spartans become just the 5th 15 seed ever to knock off a 2.

'This thing we have now is great for the game, to be able to watch each game when you want to watch. I remember when they would show a game in your area. It used to be: Why the hell do we gotta watch Duke play? I lived in Alabama and I didn't want to watch Duke or North Carolina play. Back then that really sucked.'
This is year three of the CBS/Turner 14-year partnership to broadcast the NCAA men's basketball tournament and the marriage has been successful for everyone, especially viewers. The tournament airs over four networks (CBS, TNT, TBS and truTV) and offers viewers the power to be sports television programmers. The networks have also held up their pledge to alert viewers when a better game exists away from the one they are watching.
Last year's tournament averaged 9.6 million viewers, down six percent in viewership from the previous year (10.2 million) but up from 2010 coverage. The championship game proved a ratings highlight: Kentucky's victory over Kansas was seen by an average of 20.9 million viewers, an increase of four percent over the previous year.
