An animal-loving boy's heartbreaking plea for his mother to spare a chicken she plans to prepare for lunch has become an internet hit.
Although the bird was already dead and on the chopping board, the little boy called Vitor, whose location is unknown, lovingly holds his hand over the bird and begs her not to cook it.
In the video, which has been viewed more than three million times on Facebook and 11,000 on YouTube, the sensitive youngster is heard saying 'no mummy' when she tells him she is going to cut up the poultry.
When his mother questions little Vitor, he replies: 'Leave her alone'.
She then explains the chicken is already dead and that she needs to prepare lunch - but her conscientious son is adamant it can't be touched.
'I'm telling you not to cut her,' he tells his mother with a look of deep concern.
'Look at her now, she doesn't have wings. I already cut her wings,' she replies.
'But where is her head?' asks Vitor.
When the mother tells him she has already thrown it away, he looks broken-hearted and asks her 'why?'
'What am I supposed to do with it? his mother replies..
