Menteri Koordinator Bidang Kemaritiman Luhut Binsar Pandjaitan mengatakan pihaknya berencana mengalihfungsikan sebanyak 1.300 lebih kapal penangkap ikan sitaan.
Pernyataan disampaikan Menteri Luhut usai menggelar rapat koordinasi mengenai penanganan kapal-kapal sitaan dari hasil penangkapan di laut Indonesia, Senin (3/12/2018).
Luhut menjelaskan pihaknya akan memutuskan terlebih dahulu di pengadilan terkait status kepemilikan kapal. Sebab kapal asing yang memang dibeli dan sudah dimiliki secara resmi orang Indonesia akan menjadi milik pemerintah.
Terkait hal ini Luhut memastikan kapal-kapal sitaan yang masih bagus akan diberikan ke institusi tertentu. Alasannya karena kapal masih memiliki fungsi sehingga sayang jika ditenggelamkan.
