ദുബായ് ഭരണാധികാരിയും യു.എ.ഇ. പ്രധാനമന്ത്രിയും വൈസ് പ്രസിഡന്റുമായ ശൈഖ്‌ മുഹമ്മദ് ബിൻ റാഷിദ് അൽ മക്തൂം, അബുദാബി കിരീടാവകാശി ശൈഖ്‌ മുഹമ്മദ് ബിൻ സെയ്ദ് അൽ നഹ്യാൻ എന്നിവർക്കുപുറമേ യു.എ.ഇ.യിലെ കത്തോലിക്കാ സമൂഹത്തിന്റെയും ക്ഷണം സ്വീകരിച്ചാണ് മാർപാപ്പയുടെ സന്ദർശനമെന്ന് വത്തിക്കാൻ അറിയിച്ചു.
മാർപാപ്പയെത്തുമെന്ന വാർത്ത സ്വാഗതംചെയ്യുന്നതായി മുഹമ്മദ് ബിൻ റാഷിദ് അൽമക്തൂം ‘ട്വിറ്ററി’ൽ കുറിച്ചു.
പരസ്പരം മനസ്സിലാക്കുന്നതിനും വിശ്വാസം ശക്തിപ്പെടുത്തുന്നതിനും ലോകത്ത് സമാധാനം സ്ഥാപിക്കുന്നതിനും സന്ദർശനം വഴിയൊരുക്കുമെന്ന് പ്രതീക്ഷിക്കുന്നതായും അദ്ദേഹം പറഞ്ഞു. മാർപാപ്പയുടെ അബുദാബി സന്ദർശനം സംസ്കാരങ്ങളുടെ സംഗമത്തിന്റെ ഉത്തമ ഉദാഹരണമാണെന്ന് വത്തിക്കാൻ വക്താവ് ഗ്രെഗ് ബർകെ പറഞ്ഞു.
നേരത്തേ ഇസ്‌ലാമികരാജ്യങ്ങളായ ലെബനനിലും ഈജിപ്തിലും മാർപാപ്പ സന്ദർശനം നടത്തിയിട്ടുണ്ട്. 2016-ൽ സർക്കാർ പുറത്തുവിട്ട കണക്കുപ്രകാരം വിവിധവിഭാഗങ്ങളിൽപ്പെട്ട 9,00000-ത്തോളം ക്രൈസ്തവർ യു.എ.ഇ.യിൽ കഴിയുന്നുണ്ട്. ഫിലിപ്പീൻസ്, ഇന്ത്യ, എന്നിവിടങ്ങളിൽനിന്നുള്ള കത്തോലിക്കാ വിശ്വാസികളും ഇതിൽ ഉൾപ്പെടും.
ഏകദേശം 10 കത്തോലിക്കാ പള്ളികളും യു.എ.ഇ.യിലുണ്ട്.
