'It's an embarassment to the process, it's an embarassment to the state of Maine and to the party as a whole how things were conducted today,' said Maine National Committeewoman Ashley Ryan minutes after half the Maine delegation walked off the Republican National Convention floor in protest.
Ron Paul-supporting delegates have accused the Republican establishment of changing the rules of the seating process in order to avoid embarassment for Republican nominee Mitt Romney. Their arguments are not without merit.
The Ron Paul faction did not go out quietly, cheering loudly whenever Ron Paul delegates were announced and yelling out the running tally of Paul votes every time the convention announcer failed to do so.
While Maine--and the broader Ron Paul movement--lost this symbolic battle, some delegates say that Republicans have made a bad mistake alienating the Ron Paul vote by picking this fight.
'The party's fractured. This was completely unneccessary, and it's ridiculous,' said Ron Paul supporter and Oklahoma delegate Steve Dixon.

In a sign of her rising stature within the Republican Party, New Mexico Gov. Susana Martinez took center stage Wednesday night at the Republican Convention in Tampa – speaking right before vice presidential candidate Paul Ryan of Wisconsin.
In her speech, an emotional Martinez attacked President Barack Obama for the U.S.’s growing national debt while calling for bi-partisan politics to solve America’s problems. Martinez, like her fellow Latino politicians Ted Cruz of Texas and Nevada Gov. Brian Sandoval, began her convention speech by recalling her family’s blue-collar past.
“We grew up on the border and truly lived paycheck to paycheck. My dad was a golden gloves boxer in the Marine Corps, then a deputy sheriff. My mom worked as an office assistant,” Martinez said, adding that her family opened up a security business that had her guarding a church parking lot with a Smith and Wesson .357 Magnum. “And sure, there was help along the way. But my parents took the risk. They stood up. And you better believe that they built it.'
Like her Nevada counterpart Sandoval, Martinez earned a law degree and eventually was elected District Attorney of the 3rd Judicial District of New Mexico in 1996. She was elected governor of New Mexico in 2010, becoming the first Latina to hold a governorship in the U.S. and recent polls show that her approval rating in the border state is above 50 percent.

The ratings for TLC's increasingly popular show, 'Here Comes Honey Boo Boo,' skyrocketed Thursday night for the show's fourth episode, pulling in almost 3 million viewers in the 10 p.m. slot, according to Nielsen via the Hollywood Reporter.
This number was up 30 percent from last week's episode which boasted a hefty 2.3 million viewers, according to Entertainment Weekly.

What makes the show so popular? Alana's mother, June Shannon, explained to Ryan Seacrest that she thinks viewers gravitate toward the show because her family is relatable.

'I actually laugh at the show too, because it is kind of funny, because we know that it was fun filming it. And it's just all about having fun and making memories.
