Director Ridley Scott was seen boarding a plane from London to Los Angeles after receiving the news his younger brother, Tony Scott, director of such Hollywood hits as 'Top Gun,' 'Days of Thunder' and 'Beverly Hills Cop II,' had died Sunday after jumping from a Los Angeles County bridge.
The 68-year-old Scott's death was being investigated as a suicide as a report emerged on Monday that he may have been battling terminal brain cancer.
However, the director's family has insisted to investigators the report is false, TMZ reported Monday. The director's wife reportedly told investigators rumors of her husband having brain cancer are 'absolutely false,' and that Scott did not have any other severe medical issues that would have caused him to take his own life.
An autopsy was performed on the British-born director's body Monday. Coroner's officials say it will be a month or more before they determine an official cause of death.
Several people called 911 around 12:35 p.m. to report that someone had jumped from the Vincent Thomas Bridge spanning San Pedro and Terminal Island in Los Angeles Harbor, according to Los Angeles police Lt. Tim Nordquist.

A suicide note was later found in Tony's office, but its contents were not revealed.
Simon Halls, a publicist who represents the Scott brothers, confirmed the death.
'The family asks for privacy during this time,' Halls said.

Filmmakers and fans were in shock Monday after learning that Tony Scott, director of action thrillers 'Top Gun' and 'Days of Thunder,' had jumped to his death from a California bridge.
Police and the US Coast Guard pulled the 68-year-old Scott's body out of the water near the Vincent Thomas Bridge over Los Angeles Harbor on Sunday, the LA County coroner's office said.
The Los Angeles police department has opened an investigation and an autopsy was conducted Monday, said LA county coroner's office spokesman Ed Winter. The findings were not released, pending results of toxicology tests.
ABC News had reported that Scott had been diagnosed with inoperable brain cancer, but Winter said he could not confirm or deny the report, adding that the examination of Scott's brain could not be completed on Monday.
Celebrity news website TMZ then reported that Scott's widow, actress Donna Wilson, told investigators that rumors her husband suffered from a brain tumor were 'absolutely false' and that he did not suffer from any serious illness.
Investigators found a suicide note in his office, the Los Angeles Times reported. Its contents have not been revealed.
A witness saw Scott climb over a fence on the bridge and jump into the water, according to Lieutenant Joseph Bale of the coroner's office. Other witnesses said they later saw Scott'

Fashion designer, stylist and former model, L'Wren Scott, who was also the long-time girlfriend of rock legend Mick Jagger, was found dead in her New York home in an apparent suicide on Monday.
The 49-year-old American was discovered by her assistant at around 10 a.m. Her body was found in a kneeling position, hanging from the L-shaped handle of a French door which led to the balcony of the Chelsea neighborhood apartment. It appears that she hung herself with a black satin scarf.
Mick Jagger was having dinner while on tour in Perth, Australia when he received news of Scott's passing. He was seen rushing out of an upscale restaurant that evening. It is not yet known if the Rolling Stones will cancel their tour, but the Perth performance has been put on hold for the time being.
It is suspected that Scott may have been suffering depression, as friends noted she had been distant during the past week and avoided phone calls. Scott's fashion company had been struggling for a few years and its failure to stay solvent left the designer millions of dollars in debt.
Scott, who stood at 6' 3', started her career as a model in Paris. She then became a stylist and fashion consultant on films, then started her own fashion company. She also collaborated with other clothing lines, including Banana Republic.
