Prank videos are a rage on YouTube and are extreme fun to watch, though some are borderline annoying. Hyderabadis have also caught the pranking bug and one such prankster who is really popular on YouTube is Vinay Kuyya, who runs an eponymous prank channel online.
His videos feature him and his friends pranking people on the roads and have a combined views of almost 1 crore on the popular video-sharing site.

However, his beginning was not with pranks, as he explains, “I was working for a YouTube channel and some of the spoofs that I made there went viral. It was then that my friends suggested that I start my own channel and that’s how this channel was born. I thought I’ll make short films and we made one. I was really dejected when it only got about a couple of thousand views and then I felt I should make spoofs. That didn’t work out either, so I decided to make prank videos.

According to Vinay, when he started off making prank videos in 2016, he was the only one to do them in Telugu. As his videos started gaining popularity, he started doing risky, bold ones, based on suggestions given by his viewers in the comments. “After my initial pranks got viral, we started asking people to give us dares to perform. We got more engagement that way and we started doing bold ones,” he explains.

“However, one of our videos got us into trouble as some viewer from California complained to the cops that we are causing nuisance to the public. He had no connection to us nor was he part of any video; he was just a viewer. A case was filed against us and we paid the penalty that was imposed on us and since then, I’ve been taking care to not do anything that can be termed as nuisance.
