आखिरकार सरेआम अपनी सरकार पर सवाल उठाने वाले विधायक कुलबीर सिंह जीरा पर गाज गिर ही गई। कांग्रेस से उन्हें सस्पेंड कर दिया गया है, बाहर का रास्ता दिखा दिया गया है। जीरा फिरोजपुर हल्के से विधायक हैं। प्रदेश में पार्टी अध्यक्ष सुनील जाखड़ ने इस सस्पेंशन का एलान किया।उन्होंने बताया कि विधायक जीरा को पार्टी की प्राइमरी मेंबरशिप से संस्पेंड कर किया जाता है। उन्हें कारण बताओ नोटिस जारी किया गया था, जिसमें वे अपना पक्ष स्पष्ट नहीं कर पाए। बुधवार को ही जीरा ने पार्टी अध्यक्ष को जवाब भेजा, जिस पर फैसला लेते हुए प्रदेश प्रधान सुनील जाखड़ ने यह फैसला लिया।गौरतलब है कि जीरा ने 12 जनवरी को नवनिर्वाचित सरपंचों एवं पंचों के नशे के खिलाफ शपथ ग्रहण समारोह का यह कहकर बहिष्कार किया था कि फिरोजपुर जिले में अवैध शराब की बिक्री के खिलाफ कोई कार्रवाई नहीं की जा रही है। जीरा ने कहा कि वे पार्टी के वफादार सिपाही हैं और हमेशा रहेंगे। अपने ही विधायक द्वारा सार्वजनिक कार्यक्रम के दौरान की गई फजीहत को पार्टी ने बेहद गंभीरता से लिया। जीरा ने विपक्ष को बैठे-बिठाए मुद्दा दे दिया है। सरकार बेहद संजीदगी से बार-बार यह प्रोजेक्ट करने की कोशिश कर रही है कि पंजाब से नशा खात्मे की कगार पर है।
