Google has featured a multi-part doodle on its homepage as a tribute on the 200th anniversary of Grimm's Fairy Tales.

Grimm's Fairy Tales is the popular name of a 19th century German book called Children's and Household Tales (Kinder und Hausmärchen in German). The book was written by German brothers Jacob Ludwig Carl Grimm and Wilhelm Carl Grimm.

In Grimm's Fairy Tales, the Grimm brothers collected many of Europe's most popular fairy tales including Cinderella, Beauty and the Beast, Hansel and Gretel, The Frog-Price, Goldilocks And The Three Bears, Rapunzel, Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs, Rumpelstiltskin and many, many others.

The first volume of the first edition of Grimm's Fairy Tales was published in 1812 containing 86 stories; the second volume of 70 stories followed in 1814. The seventh and final edition under the brothers' watch was published in 1857 and it contained 211 stories split across two volumes.

These editions were extensively illustrated by Philipp Grot Johann, whose work on Grimm's Fairy Tales is considered as amongst the finest of his career. Some of these illustrations are mildly humorous, such as the one in The Devil With the Three Golden Hairs where the devil is pictured reading a newspaper which, on closer examination, is a stock market letter. Robert Leinweber took over illustration duties for the latter editions after Johann's death in 1892.

It was during the family's travels to various places that young Leakey developed an interest for Etymology. As a child, she often indulged in long walks with her father where they would explore new places and have extensive discussions later.

Leakey has written four books on excavation and her discovery, of which the book titled Excavations at Njoro River Cave, was co-authored with her husband Louis.

Leakey died on December 9, 1996 at the age 83 in Kenya.

Kedarkantha is one of the finest gems in the Himalayan range situated in Uttrakhand and the trek to the Kedarkantha summit is a wonderfully redeeming experience.

No wonder that it is one of the most popular treks in Indian during winter. The serene beauty and clear openings combined with a sheet of snow on top is a treat for nature lovers and make up for a great Instagram story as well.

Kedarkantha trek distance is about 20 Kilometers long and the Kedarkantha summit is at a height of 12,500 ft above the sea level, which makes up for a great view from the top of the climb.

Kedarkantha was supposed to be known as ‘Kedarnath’ but while sculpting the Lord Shiva’s sculpture, a mishap happened and the sculptures were only able to construct up until Shiva’s neck, hence calling it ‘Kedar-Kantha’ meaning Lord Shiva’s neck.

One thing that separates Kedarkantha from the rest of the treks is that it falls under the category of a moderately difficult trek. It is a beginner-friendly trek yet the view from the top of the summit has a mesmerizing aura and sometimes can be more appealing as compared to treks that are labeled with hard difficulty.

Although, Kedarkantha is open for trekking all year long yet the majority of people prefer visiting during winters for the aforementioned reasons. The best time to visit Kedar Kantha is from December to April.

The Kedarkantha Trek starts from a small village called Sankri and then move onto Juda Ka Taal. From there the group heads onto the Kedarkantha base camp finally reaching the Kedarkantha summit at last. The trek lasts for a total of 5 days and covers a variety of attractions on the way including one of the most sensational sunsets/sunrise views.

Kedarkantha is one of the few places where one cannot capture the full essence of the experience on their first visit and hence, trekkers repeatedly keep coming back here.

So, make some room for Kedarkantha Trek in 2019’

Star Trek is an American science fiction television series created by Gene Roddenberry, produced from 1966-67 by Desilu Productions, then by Paramount Television from 1968-69 (at the time of the changeover, it was Desilu/Paramount's only series not airing on CBS). Star Trek aired on NBC from September 8, 1966 to June 3, 1969. Although this television series had the title of Star Trek, it later acquired the retronym of Star Trek: The Original Series (Star Trek: TOS or TOS) to distinguish the show within the media franchise that it began. Star Trek's Nielsen ratings while on NBC were low, and the network canceled it after three seasons and 79 episodes. Nevertheless, the show had a major influence on popular culture and it became a cult classic in broadcast syndication during the 1970s. This eventually lead to the show spawning a franchise, consisting of five additional television series, 11 theatrical films, and numerous books, games, and other products.
