Lok Sabha on Thursday passed by voice vote the Aadhaar and Other Laws (Amendment) Bill, 2019 with Union Minister Ravi Shankar Prasad asserting that the proposed amendment was strictly in compliance with the Supreme Court order and was completely voluntary. The Bill seeks to amend Aadhaar (Targeted Delivery of Financial and Other Subsidies, Benefits and Services) Act 2016 and to further amend the Indian Telegraph Act 1885 and the Prevention of Money Laundering Act 2002.

ആധാര്‍ ഇല്ലാത്ത കാരണത്താല്‍ രാജ്യത്തിന്റെ വിവിധ ഭാഗങ്ങളിലും ജനങ്ങള്‍ക്ക് മൊബൈല്‍ സിം നിഷേധിക്കുന്നതായി റിപ്പോര്‍ട്ടുകളുണ്ടായിരുന്നു.ആധാര്‍ ഇല്ലാതെ സിം കാര്ഡ് നല്‍കില്ലെന്ന ഡീലര്‍മാരുടെ തീരുമാനം സാധാരണക്കാരെ മാത്രമല്ല രാജ്യത്തെത്തുന്ന വിനോദ സഞ്ചാരികളെയും വിദേശികളെയും ബാധിച്ചിട്ടുണ്ട്.ഇതുകൊണ്ട് തന്നെയാണ് സര്ക്കാര് ഇക്കാര്യം ഗൗരവമായി കാണുന്നതും ടെലികോം സെക്രട്ടറി വ്യക്തമാക്കി.അന്തിമ വിധി വരുന്നത് വരെ സിം കാര്ഡിന് ആധാര്‍ നിര്‍ബന്ധമല്ലെന്ന് സുപ്രീംകോടതിയും നിലപാടടെടുത്തിരുന്നു.
