The Appointments Committee of the Cabinet on Wednesday has approved several Secretary-level appointements today. Atanu Chakraborty has been appointed as the new Economic Affairs Secretary while his predecessor Subhash Chandra Garg will be the new Power Secretary. Chakraborty is currently the DIPAM Secretary.

In men's hockey, India survived a final quarter onslaught from Argentina for a nail-biting 2-1 win that enhanced their quarter-final chances.
