The Fuego volcano in central Guatemala has resumed activity, shooting lava and columns of ash into the air on Monday. It overlooks the tourist city of Antigua and is one of Central America's most-active volcanoes.

അഗ്‌നിപര്‍വ്വത സ്‌ഫോടനത്തിനു ശേഷം വീണ്ടും ഒരു ടൂറിസ്റ്റ് സ്‌പോട്ട് എന്ന നിലയില്‍ ശ്രദ്ധ നേടിക്കൊണ്ടിരിക്കുകയാണ് ഗ്വാട്ടിമാല. പൊട്ടിത്തെറിച്ച അഗ്‌നിപര്‍വ്വതവും നാമാവശേഷമായ ഗ്രാമങ്ങളും കാണാനായാണ് സഞ്ചാരികള്‍ ഇവിടേയ്ക്ക് പ്രവഹിക്കുന്നത്. ഇക്കഴിഞ്ഞ ജൂണ്‍ ആദ്യവാരത്തിലായിരുന്നു ലോകത്തെ നടുക്കിയ ഗ്വാട്ടിമാല അഗ്‌നിപര്‍വത സ്ഫോടനം. സ്‌ഫോടനത്തിൽ ഒരു ഗ്രാമം തന്നെ ഇവിടെ ഇല്ലാതായി. 12,346 അടി ഉയരത്തിലാണ് അഗ്നിപര്വ്വതം പൊട്ടിത്തെറിച്ചത്. ഗ്വാട്ടിമാലയില്‍ പ്രധാനമായും രണ്ട് സജീവ അഗ്‌നിപര്‍വ്വതങ്ങളാണുള്ളത്. സാന്റിയാഗിറ്റോയും ഫ്യൂഗോയും. അതിലൊന്നിലാണ് സ്ഫോടനം നടന്നിരിക്കുന്നത്. പക്കായ കൊടുമുടിയുടെ മുകളിലെത്തിയാല്‍ പൊട്ടിത്തെറിച്ചത് ഉള്‍പ്പെടെ ഇവിടുത്തെ സജീവ അഗ്‌നിപര്‍വ്വതങ്ങള്‍ നേരിട്ട് കാണാം.
എന്നാല്‍ ഇപ്പോള്‍ വോള്‍ക്കാനോ ടൂറിസത്തിന്റെ പേരിലാണ് ഇവിടം വാര്‍ത്തകളില്‍ ഇടംനേടുന്നത്.
